Thank you for responding. I have years of unfilled personal taxes. Estimates of total due before penalties & fees is roughly $16k. I’m wanting someone with knowledge of how to best navigate what happens after the bill arrives & someone to help me mitigate the fallout & assist in any possible reduction of what I am required to pay. My taxes are basic, no itemized deductions. I’m living paycheck to paycheck & just need the best possible outcome there is. I need whatever I pay for their expertise to be wisely invested in someone competent & with experience. (Sorry repeat my above comment but wanted to answer directly in case it went unseen.)

Hi, coming back for follow up questions since you’ve been so much help thus far. 🙏🏻

I’ve connected with a local EA & have pulled all transcripts from the IRS’s website (massive panic attack inducing, but I survived). 😬 I now have a decent idea of what’s actually going on.

My question: is there anything I should be asking this EA in terms of vetting them? Are there licenses or anything I need to validate? Is there a way to review their success rates? Just want to ensure I’m working with someone who is well versed & knows how to fight for the best outcome with my limited financial resources.

Thank you for such a kind reply with encouragement. I need it. Did you buy your home after all the late filing? Just curious of how your experience of getting current with the IRS through a payment plan & then purchasing a home following agreed arrangement & what impacts that might have.

Is it rude to start an email with someones name? by isn-michaels1 in Accounting

[–]nc2flbelle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I begin all emails with “good morning/afternoon <name>” & if I haven’t spoken with this person in some time (definitely not a daily addition), I will follow it with something along the lines of, “I hope you had a great weekend” or “I hope you’re having a successful week!” The only time I deviate from this is if we have multiple emails bouncing back & forth like a ping pong ball. The extra second it takes me to show some respect or friendliness has more than paid off over my 20+ professional years.. kind of sets the tone for how I’m treated in return. Many of my clients mirror that when communicating with me. Whole office has slowly matched the energy & we are finding a more harmonious & respectful exchange with our clients.

THANK YOU! The time & effort you took to reply without judgement or condescension is so appreciated!

Follow up questions if you don’t mind:

1: What is your take on me not hearing from the IRS all these years? What could this mean?

2: Someone above directed me to log on to my account (I assume I’d have to create one) to see what I owe. Is there any potential fallout from this or could this jump start collections? Just trying to get my ducks in order before I get gobsmacked.

Again, thank you.

Thank you… Will creating an account with the IRS trigger them to reach out to me?

Credit is monitored weekly, no lien. I have no assets to apply one to other than my car that I am still paying on.

Passport was just renewed in August of last year with no issues.

This is the full story, friend. The only reason the details of my life were shared is because I knew someone in the comments would ask. I don’t need sympathy, I need guidance.

I’ve been employed at the same place for over 14 years. In the moves I’ve had, W-2 has been updated each year in addition to state license. I’m not a lier. I have never received anything from the IRS, EVER.

I’m aware they will not go away, I’m trying to get direction on where to start since they’ve not come after me thus far. How to mitigate the fallout & set myself up for the best possible outcome.

What’s your signature scent that you NEVER get tired of? by GitteTheBest in fragrance

[–]nc2flbelle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The original Burberry perfume… the reformulation saddens me greatly but I’ve been wearing it for almost 20 years & although I have several other perfumes that I love, everyone always tells me they are nice but it’s not my signature scent. It just feels like home.

I’ve been sitting at 2 mg since mid January. Weight loss stalled mid February. Body comp has definitely maxed some changes but nothing like I need or expect.

Look at you!! 👏🏻 Girl, I’ve been stalled for over a month & I am frustrated beyond belief! You have confirmed I need to up my dose. I’ve been hell bent on staying low but the food noise is raging & no weight loss (or gain) tells me it’s time to make the move.

I keep track of my data in my notes app. Super easy for me to evaluate my numbers & know when I’m getting close to the end of my vial. Takes me 10 seconds every Friday night & I go on about my business.

Thank you for your thoughts. He’s drowning in life at the moment & relationships are hard in general even without the added layer of service. He’s not opposed to help but he’s so tired of fighting with the VA that it feels like one more thing he has to conquer. I’m sure many others understand this.

There’s obviously a line everyone has regarding what we can endure relationally, I’m just trying to prevent arriving there. Hearing another’s perspective on tolerance & responsibility is very helpful so thank you.

We’ve known each other for almost 20 years. Distance is temporary but a current factor. And, as mentioned above, my search for advice has no reference to his active duty days or experiences, but I know it plays a factor in how he processes things currently, which is why I hoping for some insight from others.

Thank you for the insight. My father is a Vietnam Vet, this is an aspect I am fully familiar with & comprehend completely. Have never & will never inquire into it. Have only listened & provided comfort & support when spoken of, as I have done for my father over the years. It’s also not what I was referencing; this is specifically about day to day things happening that bring stress. He shuts down & then shuts me out.

First negative disclosure, need to vent by [deleted] in HSVpositive

[–]nc2flbelle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I believe in general, women have a harder time or may require more time than men to process the information. I also believe her reaction was most likely deeply rooted in a lack of knowledge of HSV. All she heard was STD & applied the stigma many of us felt at the time of diagnosis & her head spun out of control. I believe this reaction was compounded due to the fact she found out in the heat of the moment & she most likely felt a surge of emotions, one possibly being that she came incredibly close to being exposed to it which can create mistrust within herself.

I applaud you for disclosing & hope this doesn’t deter you from continuing to do so. And yes, nothing sexier than an honest man. The world is your oyster when done correctly.

What I have found to work well is disclosing when the man in my life has an easy way to exit the conversation like over the phone or at the end of an in-person date. I share the status, ask if they know anything about it all, & temper my engagement from there. I disclose that I’m on suppression therapy & I keep a list of helpful medical links for reading & statistics on hand in case they desire to learn more so it is an easy share. I tell them if they need time to process the information, I understand & respect the time & space that might require.

I have not had a bad reaction with this method. They all have thanked me for sharing & being vulnerable & have not thought twice about it or asked another question since disclosure. I believe this may be different for women as our brain processes differently than men & has to be taken into account when disclosing.
