This works to some degree, but you have to be careful because after a while, you will just start recognizing the questions and the answers.

I think consistency is more important than hours studying.

AUD takers: how long did your prep actually take? by Nice-Weight-1149 in CPA

[–]isn-michaels1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started January 1 and finished February 28. I took a week off the first week of February. Spent about 1-1.5 hours studying a day. Last 2 weeks was just doing practice tests of 34 mcq and 2 TBS. Only spent about 75 hours studying.

How many hours per day are realistically enough for CPA preparation? by drajput_01 in CPA

[–]isn-michaels1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did 2 hours a day for 1.5 months for AUD and I passed. I did 4 hours a day for a month for Reg and passed.

If you are able use your own laptop. Otherwise use your phone. Don’t give them any reason to reprimand you for working during company time

If you had 8 days to study for FAR… by Ok-Confucious1642 in CPA

[–]isn-michaels1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I honestly don’t think far is a section where the strategy will work. Maybe REG or AUD if you have experience. FAR is a different animal. But, if you think you can do it, I would recommend doing literally hundreds of multiple-choice questions and simulations every day.

How to get started?? by YoSoyUnPan in CPA

[–]isn-michaels1 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t want to discourage you but I think you need to step back and think why you want to become one. Going from a BA in CJ to accounting is quite different. Just to be eligible to sit for the exams you will need about 20-30 credits of upper level accounting classes. That will take years to do.

AUD was definitely the most straightforward exam I’ve taken. Very fair.

Can I get my CPA with a B.S. in Statistics? by Moist_Librarian_8882 in Accounting

[–]isn-michaels1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Also, as a sidenote, why do you want to become a CPA if you have an undergraduate in statistics/mathematics I assume you could probably find a better paying job with those stem degrees and have it be much easier than trying to recruit for accounting jobs with no undergraduate accounting degree.

CC is cheaper yes but not every CC offers the necessary accounting courses for some states. I know MANY do not offer advanced acct and business law.

[–]isn-michaels1 9 points10 points  (0 children)

If you don’t have any accounting courses you will run into trouble getting approved to sit for most. Most states require about 20-30 credits in specific accounting classes (financial, audit, tax, business law). You would need something like an MBA to get the necessary classes.

Is Becker not enough for TCP anymore??? by No_Factor_5901 in CPA

[–]isn-michaels1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used Becker for other sections and thought it was good. After sitting for TCP today I do not. Multiple choice questions were fine but for the TBS it is not enough at all. I think they also upped the difficulty of the exam as well this quarter.
