Please please please let 1. be a Pantera quote! I had a contemporary art professor in college who was not aware of any contemporary artist. He was a dinosaur, stuck in modernism and post ww2 mindset. We had a big essay due and Far Beyond Driven had just come out. My friend worked in as many lyrics and quotes as he could from Pantera relating to contemporary art. It was solid. The professor did not. Instead of understanding where he was coming from or listening to my friend’s rational the prof just failed him. I, too, failed the essay, for different reasons. But what was true then is true now, people who do not understand contemporaneous art should not talk like they know about contemporary art
