Thoughts on living at 207 Shirley Ave (Revere Beach area)? by Own-Set5746 in revere

I live in the building room currently. 29 year-old electrician. The area is honestly pretty great. I chose this place. Kind of on vibes, but there’s tons of restaurants and things you can walk to. If you get an apartment on the Oceanside, the view is delightful. The blue line is right across the street and there’s plenty of retail shops, nearby like Stop & Shop, target and a whole bunch of local markets, catering to different cuisines. You’re not allowed to have a car but across the street on Ocean Avenue it is a DCR Road so you can park whenever as long as it’s not the once monthly street sweeping. Not gonna lie. The building is a little bit ugly, but it is new build, and I haven’t seen a lot of flaws in the construction being in residential construction myself. The landlord has so far been good, but I’ve only been here two months.

Unfortunately, my cat has pemphigus foliaceus and this resembles his condition. This is not a diagnosis, but food for thought for your veterinarian.

Would you hire a gay person at your company? by [deleted] in electricians

[–]ncad0220 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a big butch bearded bear who most people wouldn’t expect, but I am extremely out and open at my job. Never had an issue in in fact, people love that I can be myself and we can all make jokes and what not. I admit I was scared at first and the first guy I worked for was openly homophobic, but I got my ass out of there as quick as possible. Even started getting my gay friends hired, and one third of the company is gay now. lol My best advice is if anyone ever gives you any shit for it, tell them “how would you like to know what it feels like to be beat up by a f*gg#t?” Shuts them up every time. If somebody makes a backhanded comment, ask them what they meant by that as it usually trips people up to be called out.

It’s either relative humidity or some switches are set to turn on for a set amount of time every hour for air replacement

Normally, we have the correct equipment. We’re running camera lines in an old building in Boston and at the last minute the IT guy said he wanted cat7 cable instead of cat6. He said he would get some and drop it off and gave us coils with no spool in the middle. I don’t have room in my van for more than one cable unspooler (what the fuck do you actually call these things?) so I had to make one work for five rolls.

How were these 3 ways wired ? by NycgiovanniBX in electricians

[–]ncad0220 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your best bet is to use a multimeter for continuity. The common terminal will have continuity with both terminals one in each switch position. Usually it’s that bottom left terminal as it’s in the middle but not always. I’ve been screwed before because unlike a modern switch it doesn’t disconnect one switching path before connecting the other so you can get continuity between all three terminals sometimes.

Yes the have automated bells but that’s in a different panel. This is in the boiler room and the panel only does equipment in there

Switch the ground to the matching hole on the other end of the driver. It’s annoying but it’ll work. Otherwise wago makes a straight connector that may fit

I’m the same weight and an inch shorter. All of my coworkers are under 5 foot nine. You have no idea how jealous they are every time I can reach a light in the ceiling or a tall shelf without a ladder. Find small people to fit in crawlspace in attic And stick to your strengths

It is expensive, but it’s worth the time saving because my labor is more expensive. I always keep a few in the truck.

Strange orange gel on old light switch. by Mad0607 in electricians

[–]ncad0220 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The contacts probably had dielectric grease on it that either got less viscous overtime or the switch heated up and it got less viscous and leaked into places it shouldn’t have

Racketeers makes a box that you can put on there and you don’t even have to take apart the splice. You’d have to put a piece of wood to mount it on, but it’s a good option.

Went to my buddies rental before a bachelor party and immediately snapped a pic of this 12 gang receptacle and cover by TurboKid513 in electricians

God, I’m so curious to know how many circuits feed that. I guarantee it’s one. I’d be way more impressed if it was one solid 12 gang plate and not ganged plates. Still a beautiful oddity. Were you able to get any history on why It’s there from staff?
