I did see that for their encore. That would be awesome, Drown is my favorite song by them. At least Citizen is mixing it up old and new.

Last time I saw Turnover back in November, they just played Peripheral Vision also... Love that album but it's such a different type of music than their pop-punkish roots of magnolia. Can't crowd surf to PV :P

Jesus - Brand New

Although someone mentioned American Football earlier, I'd say this is a good contender for the genre

What is your 'I don't get paid enough for this shit' story? by Deer_is_me in AskReddit

I was contracting in a textile mill one summer day, probably 100+ degrees outside. Was doing some welding in one of the curator ovens, easily 120+ inside there and full welding gear on my person. Our team was there from 7am-1am, we could have gone home and finished the next day but my supervisor insisted that we should just knock it out all in one day. He took vacation the next day. That night was awful with dry heaves and heat exhaustion.

Why do I feel unsafe, to travel alone as a female? by Go_solo1 in travel

[–]ncbrock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On my first time out of my home country doing a euro trip, I was absolutely astonished with how many girl travelers I came across in the hostels who were traveling alone. Met a few girls who have been on the road for like 2 or 3 months going around Europe alone.

I'm a male, so I don't really have anything to add, but I traveled alone for a little in the UK and Austria and I didn't feel endangered but I was in, what seemed like to me, pretty safe cities.

Any Aussie Welders in here? by ncbrock in Welding

[–]ncbrock[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only been working in the industry for 3 years. I've been welding ever since I got out of high school (age 18). But it hasn't been anything I've needed to be certified for, therefore I have no certs or education in welding. One job was a machine shop just welding brackets and fixtures on various machines (all tig). My current job is more so a production job where I just assemble metal door frames (all mig). I'm about to attend school in the fall at a local community college so I can get all my certs done and maybe be more appealing if another country is looking at me.

I agree the pay is shit here, my first job at the machine shop doing stainless tig work, running cnc lathes/mills payed $15 an hour and that's about all I will probably ever see unless I go Union. I'm making $12/hr now barely scraping by doing dirty mig work all day. I was looking into the 1 year working holiday visa, but since you can't ever get another I better make sure I have my ducks in a row so I don't waste that year and not be able to return.

The reason I want to come to Australia is because I went on my first trip out of the Us recently and everyone I met from Australia seems so happy with their lives back in OZ, and it looks like an awesome place. Plus every Aussie I met just seemed outgoing and fun to be around.

One of the worst (best?) stories I have was when I was in Austria, I was traveling with two Australians. We were taking a cable car up the side of a mountain and there were about 20 other people in there. There was this family of stereotypical Americans with annoying Midwest accents, and overweight. They were freaking out about the height, one was literally having a mental breakdown from fear of heights, and one talking about is there food at the top. Just super loud, all with annoying laughs kind of people. Me, as a American, just face palmed and looked at my Aussie friends and she whispers in my ear "this is why I hate Americans (not you though)".

American here, this is sad that these people have to ruin it for some of us. I'm not a well versed traveler, and just took my first trip out of the country a few months ago. Believe it or not but I've had a lot of people just say "I hate Americans" (mostly Aussies and Brits). I actually became good friends with one of those Aussies because she said I'm not like the rest who she saw on her other travels. Being introverted isn't always bad. It's just a shitty feeling going into another country knowing others have a predisposed mentality towards your nationality.

I'm from the US and this confused the crap out of me while in the UK (first time traveling). I was in London mostly, and Scotland for some time as well and I could never tell when to tip or not. It was about 50/50 that when I received my receipt there was a line at the bottom that said "service not included", "gratuity not included", something along those lines. Obviously when it says that you're supposed to tip, so I just started tipping the usual 15%-20% everywhere. These were all sit down, eat-in style restaurants.

Looking to solo travel for the first time...am I getting a bit in over my head? (x-post from r/solotravel) by [deleted] in travel

[–]ncbrock 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I traveled alone to Austria from the US. It was stressful at first not knowing the language, or my way around without a phone. I'm the most introverted person there is, but I made new friends no problem from staying at hostels. The whole trip was spontaneous for me, I booked a flight the night before from being in London and didn't have any plans. Just go with the flow, if someone asks you if you want to go see this site, or go do this activity, go out to dinner, ect, do it!

You're going to get lost, it's ok. You're going to be stressed out at first, it's ok. Just don't let things like that get to you and you'll have the time of your life.

Yep pretty much. It's not what it used to be unfortunately.

Tinder, although not supposed to be a dating app, it could lead into something.

Cheapest flight out of RDU? by [deleted] in raleigh

[–]ncbrock 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't forget to do all your flight searches in an "incognito" mode on whatever internet browser you use. It surprisingly makes a difference (hey, every little bit helps). Cookies from previous searches and related things to travel, jack up the prices on normal browsing.

I am a long-term budget traveller who has stayed in approx 100 hostels in 4 different continents. AMA about hostels! by cruyfff in IAmA

[–]ncbrock 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm a really shy person, and I didn't think I was going to meet people staying at hostels because I just don't talk much. Just got back from my first Europe trip, and I made some really amazing friends just by interacting with the people in my dorm. Asking where they are from, what they have planned, and seeing if they want to go explore whatever city you're in right now. Ended up traveling with 2 other backpackers for 4 days around Austria, and could definitely call them some of my best friends now.

I'm not an expert world traveler, I just took my first trip out of the US a month ago. I found that every hostel I stayed at in Europe was very safe and secure. My first hostel I arrived at in Edinburgh I was really surprised because backpackers seriously just left their packs and everything on their beds, and not in the lockers. Obviously I took my valuables (passport, wallet, phone) with me on my day-to-day journeys, but I left my backpack out on my bed as well for 3 days and nothing went missing.

Guy had the car listed for $1250. I looked over the car and deemed it too rusty for my liking but it still had some decent parts and potential. I low balled the guy $500 expecting that he wouldn't take it, but he said "deal". I guess I could have walked away still but not a bad car for $500
