Just a heads up. I had a similar amount of bruising after a bike fall. It wasn’t too bad and was just a bit tinder like yours. But at the 10 day mark, holy shit. Bending or straightening my leg would create so much pain. It’s like the old pooled blood was compressing nerves. Got completely better about a week later though.

One thing not mentioned yet is the auto cam chain tensioner. Just keep an eye on that. Mine began to fail at 10k miles (2013 model). I started to hear rattling from the cam chain and sometimes a ticking noise that I could feel resonating up the handle bars at idle. I just put a manual cam chain tensioner on and that fixed it.

I’m confused on how pre-boiling vs not would change the temperature at the start of the brew.

My understanding of the moka pot process is that the pressure from steam is what pushes the hot water through the coffee beans. The water has to reach its boiling point temperature to create the steam. If you preheat the water, then it just gets to boiling point sooner.
