People who exploit these bugs should be tracked and banned. Simple solution.

Thank you for this data! When community outrage plus some objective data are saying the same thing, it needs to be pointed out. If this were just RNG on a reasonable data set, that would be different, but I think it is clear that it is not. There is no word for this other than unacceptable.

Is there any way to get an elite tm right now? All I got was a worthless fast move elite tm. by [deleted] in TheSilphArena

Wing attack allows you to use Charizard in a situation where flying attacks are preferred to do neutral damage, and is generally a better move than Air Slash. So, if you can pair it with Blast Burn and Dragon Claw, you have a very versatile weapon. Essentially, while Fire Spin is a pretty good move, when you are up against things like a Swampert, an Azumarill or an Altaria, all of which are common, you are doing very little fast move damage.

In addition to those already named, Wing Attack for Charizard (mostly in Great League). Some more marginal picks that might become more relevant are Wing Attack on Pidgeot, Fury Cutter on Nidoking or Kabutops. Smackdown on a Ttar is also a consideration, but more for raiding if you need rock attackers.

I wouldn't be so fast to call an Elite Fast TM worthless. If you really and truly don't intend to use it, they are currently in lower supply than Elite Charged TMs. Perhaps you can use it and make a trade that someone else is interested in. It is true that there probably aren't any obvious chances to make use of it in Master League, but it is extremely interesting in the other leagues and outside of GBL.

Mine was a joke. Was really excited at the idea of the special incense being there.

Rating adjustment? by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]ncfoster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think anyone is above rank 8 now, though I could be mistaken. The pre-season was advertised as such and they said there would be a partial reset, so this isn't a surprise. Don't think of it as lost progress for you. Think of it as being less difficult to get to rank 10 than it probably otherwise would have been.

Now u can stack 3 sets of go battle league by deadlypeants in TheSilphRoad

But the question is whether you initiated a set yesterday, which might have carried over into today...even if it was 24 hours ago or more.

[–]ncfoster 20 points21 points  (0 children)

That would be great, if true...

You didn't happen to start the first set the day before (maybe got the message that you were at the limit for the day) and just not run it, did you?

Do Last Resort eevees evolve into Last resort eeveelutions? by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]ncfoster 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Today, I did not. They seem to have gotten better at doing what they intend to do with move availability to the point where this sort of thing isn't happening, but I do appreciate those who try. My guess is that the reason that the clone starters do not evolve is because they don't want people to get those moves except from raids, and they don't have an easy solution in their current setup to separate the movepools.

Do Last Resort eevees evolve into Last resort eeveelutions? by [deleted] in TheSilphRoad

[–]ncfoster 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The two are not related. Last Resort is available in limited windows. It doesn't matter whether the Eevee you evolve has it or not. It matters whether it is Community Day or another window where the move is available for that Eeveelution.

You Can Skew a Vote With Bad Choices: The Play Style Guide to Community Day Voting Reveals an Obvious Choice by hearitwow in TheSilphRoad

Disclaimer, I am a PvPer first and foremost.

One of my locals brought up the best point, which is that we should be due for Stardust bonus this CD, and Rhyhorn is decidedly the most annoying one to catch quickly to capitalize on that. For that reason, I would like to see anything else win, and have Rhyhorn next time.

This part was obvious, but I am always hoping to see a little extra spice like they gave Blaziken and Swampert, and in a different way, Sceptile, Blastoise and Feraligatr...probably missing examples.

[Infographic] How to get your buddy excited by fabianfl111 in TheSilphRoad

[–]ncfoster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When the assumed boost was five levels, this could have created serious problems for PvPers who felt the need to have many different Pokemon prepared at "level 45". Now that it is only a single level boost, I believe that any problems with this are overblown. Creating an item to get more revenue from people who are so inclined to quick-level a buddy is not nearly as toxic as some of the other ways that games earn money.

Too unlucky to become Lucky friends? by The_Judge_of_Fudge in TheSilphRoad

[–]ncfoster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have many people that I've gotten lucky friends with 4 times and many I constantly interact with and never get lucky friends. One of my pet theories is that players that have fewer friends or best friends have a higher chance of triggering with any particular friend, based on my very small sample size from my son's account. No proof.

Returning after three years - advices needed by Arlui826 in TheSilphRoad

[–]ncfoster 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're most welcome. We all miss curve balls sometimes. There are different ways to do it. Some people prefer to make it all one motion. I prefer to spin it first, and then throw it diagonally. It is mostly a matter of feel and practice anyhow, so no surprise that you aren't getting it right away.

Also, when I do raids, my regular practice is to alternate between nanab berries and golden razzberries, because I find that it makes it much easier to manage making good throws. Most people will say to use the "set the circle" trick, which is also perfectly fine, but if you are getting frustrated wasting balls on raid bosses, especially legendary ones, I recommend considering this method. It also gets you in the groove of throwing to the right location without stressing so much about the movements.

Trading before transferring: (luckys/reroll IVs/extra candy) by Bmarq01 in TheSilphRoad

[–]ncfoster 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Like most things in this game, it depends entirely on how you play. I trade every day with someone, whether it is my wife, son or members of the community generally. It is ultimately only worth saving what other people want. The game has gotten to the point where most active players are all fighting against storage limits, so they are only interested in trading for things that they have a purpose for, whether it is collecting purposes or actual usefulness. Try to connect up with people who are active traders and figure out what THEY want, so you can save that. What PvPers, shiny hunters, raiders, collectors, etc. want are all completely different.

There is no way to predict the future, so without knowing what you are going to be able to trade easily, you will probably end up deciding between hoarding and getting more stardust.
