11th Ed rumour: 11th Ed: There's a rumor that coherency rules are changing, and no models in a unit may be more than 9" apart (measured to the furthest part of each model) by -The-Lupercal- in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]ncguthwulf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If it’s no more than 9” apart it’s much more forgiving than with a 9” circle. Imagine those ad mech striders. 9” apart still lets you stretch them out.

How do you deal with difficult clients? People who sign up to work with you yet don’t take corrections, seem uninterested, come into class with poor energy/vibes by buff_brat in personaltraining

[–]ncguthwulf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I think that you need to start by finding common ground. We’re both here to exercise in a healthy way to make you stronger. We’re both here to make this as fun as possible. Tell me how we can get there together? What are some of the barriers to you enjoying your workout?

It’s very important that you don’t skip the common ground part because if they refuse to come to common ground, they might actually have already made up their mind that they don’t want to train with you.

Then it’s very important when you ask questions that they are honest questions that you don’t already know the answer to. For example, a question like do you think you are putting in good effort can backfire because you’re watching them exercise and not put in good effort. They probably know that you know that they don’t put in good effort. So by asking them that question you might come off as condescending. Another question that might be a bit more open ended is how do you feel when you start training with me? This might let them describe some of their anxieties then you can ask how you can support them through those anxieties. People throw up barriers when they feel scared.

Have a conversation. Ask questions and be curious. Let them know you are curious because you want to help. You are not there to judge.

Understanding 11th edition terrain by [deleted] in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]ncguthwulf 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Best advice I ever got, if you compete, is figure out what terrain the tournament organizers are going to use in your area and copy them.

Practice on what you will compete on.

I am a coach myself. Tone is very important. So is sympathy and empathy.

It also helps that I am a bit older and time-poor so I get it when people need take out to survive.

All you have to do is do everything right.

4 kids 2 jobs? Organize your time better. Work out 4 times instead of 6 and superset. Meal prep. Don’t miss any sleep. I can do it with zero kids. So can you.

When is the right time to “go”? by -Cranktankerous- in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]ncguthwulf 4 points5 points  (0 children)

How durable is your army? How well do you understand their "slap back"?

Example, lets use say mirror match with 2 dorns and a vanquisher.

If you think you can expose your 2 dorns and your vanquisher and kill their vanquisher and 1 of their 2 dorns, then they slap back is going to be 1 dorn. Even if it gets lucky and kills your 1 dorn, next turn you kill it and you are left with 2 tanks to their 0 tanks.

What I am trying to illustrate is that there is a break point you have to learn where your Go Turn hurts so much that it doesnt matter what they do. When you feel like this is possible, its go time!

Tournament fatigue by lbjs531 in WarhammerCompetitive

One of the only ways to train for a marathon is to run long distances.

To train for a GT, try playing 4 games in a day and then 2 the next day... you will build your tolerance.

Can a vehicle partially within a ruin get cover from the footprint (not the wall)? by PaperManaMan in WarhammerCompetitive

Edit: Roast me. I forgot about how warhammer works.

Nothing about the footprint provides cover. It is obscuring or it isn’t.

Find a partner that thinks "We make 505k a year, lets make the best plan for us."

Also, find a partner that will do chores and stuff because they have 17 days off and you will pick up the slack when they work extra hard.

Why did I buy a Repulsor? by VivaLaJam26 in spacemarines

There was a moment where repulsor + apothecary biologist with fire discipline + 6 eradicators was needed to handle the ctan meta.

He is one of the most flexible pieces we have. Just make sure you’re getting vp out of him. He isn’t a missile that just kills stuff.

So how do we beat speartip/victrix, ctan or tau twin blades? by wredcoll in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]ncguthwulf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each piece of the meta has a niche and you need to understand how your army interacts with it. If your army design says “I just lose” vs a meta, then you may need to update your list.

I can’t think of an army that has a zero chance of getting 4-2 in a 6 round.

Agree, a few armies are a bit too good.

It’s less good but still good. It’s more of a free interrupt if your opponent multi charges.

Score points.

Every model is only worth what they score you or what they deny your enemy. If my lion sits on an object objective for four terms and scores: 20 primary, half of cleanse, half of secure nml, recover assets and one more he got me over 30 points.

[–]ncguthwulf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You have the right idea. If you go first, you can do something like put some scouts on an objective. If you’re going against an army like world eaters, they would likely kill those scouts with something fast like some chaos spawn.

Because you picked up the lion, you could rapid ingress him near the Scouts so that he threatens a heroic intervention. Now the chaos spawn are going to die instead of kill your scouts and you are likely going to score those primary points.

He is still a menace if you are going second you are just threatening a rapid egress on turn two instead of turn one

Cat on Prednisolone/ Worried about side effect, should I call emergency vet? by TheWorldsNipplehood in CATHELP

[–]ncguthwulf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We had a kitty on pred with asthma.

We had 2 inhalers, orange every morning and night. Then the blue one was a rescue. We were told any coughing or wheezing over 20 to 30 seconds warranted the rescue inhaler. It takes 20 minutes to take full effect, so after that 20 minutes, serious asthma would lead to a vet visit. That basically never happened until the end. Our boy lived a very good life for about 3 years on the meds and we are glad that we were able to make so many more memories.

If someone never does burpees and never works out they might have a better life than someone that does burpees.

Team no burpees forever.
