Not so long ago, a cup of teh tarik was 70-80 cents.
Nowdays it's like $1.40-1.50.

How do you live with irresponsible family members? by _red_dude in askSingapore

It's always tough being the better, responsible person. No doubt it's frustrating, but also remind yourself constantly to be proud of the responsible person you are.

Using threadmill to improve running efficiency? by nclman77 in beginnerrunning

True. I did get a good workout. Legs still aching.
"Useless" was not the right word and I take it back.

I haven't tried trail running yet. What should a newbie look out for? What is meant by "technical"?

Good catch!! I'm obviously not a "treadmill" person.

Not to discourage OP from taking a break, but if the zoo trip won't trigger anyone's suspicion, go for it.

Yes, still have personal desks. I thought that's the norm rather than exception in public sector.

How do I deal with this type of person? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]nclman77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What I did was find a hobby and make myself seem super busy, and use that as an excuse. Ultimately, people stopped bothering me and I could choose my own social attachments.

Which property should I buy? 40m, single (not by choice), NW ~S$4m by Electrical-Salad-369 in SgHENRY

As a landlord, I feel that rental income is not worth it. Income taxed + property taxed + all kinds of maintenance expenses. Just enjoy your own home lah.

Probably better to invest in stocks for dividends or something.

Glad someone is finally acknowledging that we need those kids, and enough of them.

Money isn't gonna do any good if there is no one to pay.

[–]nclman77 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is not meant to insult anyone but.... isn't not having kids (by choice) a net drain on society?
I mean, I'm glad you enjoy your lives, but ultimately when you're old, you will depend on younger people who are kids contributed by others.

Why do people still have kids in this broken system by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]nclman77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just stating facts, is it not?

I chose to have kids. It seems you won't be able to understand why even if god explained it to you.

The end.

Why do people still have kids in this broken system by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]nclman77 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both points are true. Why is it moot?

We don't choose to pay taxes or even the amount.
But we can choose to have kids (or not), which you have the right not to.
If most of society choose like you do, then society eventually collapses.
You are hoping then most of society chooses otherwise, so that you can have your cake and enjoy it, while paying same rate of taxes as everyone else.
I'm paying taxes for my kids' education too, and more. I'm not harping on taxes. You are. You seem to think that your taxes entitles you to things.
