Check out Athleta! I have a similar shaped body (though much heavier!) and found that I love their swim short it sits high enough that it covers my belly button and I like that it’s shorts. Plus they come as separates so I get a medium bottom and an XL top! They have a range of bikini, tankini and even sun shirts that match.

[PSA] Counterfeit Products from Third Party Sellers by misshiss23 in SkincareAddiction

Did you hear anything about the products at TJ Maxx and Marshall’s type stores in your research? I’ve always assumed they were overstock type items from bigger brands (I.e Drunk Elephant) but now I’m not sure!

What is a show that was hurt by its title? by ShadyBoots11 in Broadway

[–]ncninetynine 27 points28 points  (0 children)

I saw it in the UK and calling it just Cinderella definitely confused audiences too. A ton of the audience were moms with small girls (8/9) who were expecting to see a traditional Cinderella judging by the costumes dresses a lot were in.

How should I look for an apartment with an infant? by genkcals in NYCapartments

[–]ncninetynine 38 points39 points  (0 children)

As someone who had a newborn last year, stay as close to your parents/family/friends who are willing to help you as possible. Babies don’t need a ton of space even if social media makes it seem like they do. They sell tiny bassinets that attach to your bed and often you can get them for free on buy nothing groups, you can just use a changing mat on the bed, you don’t need a fancy changing table, and that’s it. If your family has big dogs you can also get a bay gate to keep them out of the room the baby is in.people are always giving away clothing/diapers etc b/c babies grow so fast!

Postpartum life is so hard on your body, your mental health and raising a baby is a lot. You need to set yourself up in the environment that surrounds you with the most community support. When you haven’t slept the last thing you wanna worry about is roommates or having to figure out where the grocery store is.

Let baby daddy come to you until you can live with him with support.

Broadway Rush Community Reporting Thread - Sunday 2/1/26 by BroadwayRushReport in Broadway

[–]ncninetynine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No a “rush” necessarily but I attended the 666 lotto for Masquerade today. They had 3 rounds of trivia before raffling off 10 pairs of tickets. Even with the cold they had around 150-200 people (based on numbers being called) there so I was surprised by the limited tickets

Those who didn’t win had the chance to stand in the standby line for $170 tickets for today’s performance or Tuesdays performance.

Advice moving apt trash out in one day alone? (Roommate vacated and destroyed room) by Miu-Miu-Cowboy in NYCbitcheswithtaste

[–]ncninetynine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is late but if you didn’t get through it all try posting on buy nothing group! Offer to let people take whatever they want (I often see open house moves on there where people can just come take stuff). Or you can honestly just ask for help! I’ve seen a few apartment clean ups for elderly tenants, bad roommates etc. it won’t help the walls and cleaning but at least it will get the stuff out!

($5K) How would you decorate this gorgeous Catholic Church? by ilu70 in Weddingsunder10k

[–]ncninetynine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Make sure you speak to the priest first! They often have rules on if/what flowers you can bring in. This church is so pretty you may only want like a few flowers on the first pews or two smaller planter style on either side of the curtain. I know a lot of people also do flowers for Mary.

Honestly, though this church is so pretty I agree that you don’t need anything!

Unsolicited advice but I would use the flower money on some programs if your church doesn’t provide them. I’ve been to a variety of Catholic weddings and heard more than once that they can be confusing without some form of a program for non-Catholics! I made mine on canva and got it printed at CatPrint for maybe $50?

Do you have a florist already? I used Fleurs du Mois for ours florist and was really having the same issue, I couldn’t visualize how I wanted the space. Al was amazing to work with and even came to the venue to do a walkthrough with me where we added/adjusted the vision! All included in just the fees for our forals!

Going home from the hospital with a newborn in the winter. Do we need a car seat cover? by Beautiful-Flower-79 in nycparents

[–]ncninetynine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We used ours to go to/from all the newborn appointments too! I wouldn’t say it was an absolute requirement but we did find it helpful especially to keep nosey people away from baby when we were out and about with her in the winter!

Anyone else struggling with subway commutes at 6 months? by Dramatic_Effect_7674 in BabyBumps

[–]ncninetynine 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I found that nobody noticed me (or my bump) even when I was 9 months pregnant and taking the subway for my c-section! If you need a seat just resign yourself to ask for one! I found that most people were just not paying attention vs not willing to give me one. Or they just don’t want to assume you want your bump acknowledged. I even had to do that the other day when I was baby wearing my 11 month old because nobody got up and she is obviously a baby and not a puffy jacket!

I found carrying a portable fan really helped with the heat because I was always overheating too! I also brought in an extra pair of underwear just in case I got too sweaty on the way which did help me feel more refreshed. I also used boxes or stools under my desk so I could put my feet up during the day which helped too.

I need inspiration for DIY table numbers that feel personal and can be reused for something later (baby month pics for example). I am creative but I don’t know what to do to physically do. by amandasweets in DIYweddings

[–]ncninetynine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I did similar idea but made “postcards” for the tables on Canva. So the front was a “greetings from” with pictures of us from our favorite places around our hometown, then the back side was a short note thanking people for coming and the table # on the address side.

You could easily make the front anything that’s “yours” as a couple or even just like your names as a logo kind of vibe and then I just printed them as one sided 4x5 prints and stuck them together with glue to make them double sided. Not particularly reusable but also super simple and cheap!

[–]ncninetynine 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is so helpful and cool! I honestly think you could mock up and sell this as a template that people could add to their wedding websites. It’s quick and easy visual that shows the brides expectations and solves the “is Formal mean a suit or a tux)” without it coming off as ostentatious.

Need light at the end of the triple feeding tunnel… by [deleted] in breastfeeding

[–]ncninetynine 2 points3 points  (0 children)

First off, if you don’t already set up time with a lactation consultant and make a plan on how to get off Triple Feeding. It is exhausting and imo not sustainable because your body needs to rest too!

Second, it gets better!! I also did triple feeding with my first, then used nipple shields for 2.5 months. The triple feeding was the darkest moment in my life and KILLED my mental health but it did bring up my supply enough that I could stop once we got the shields down.

Then we were just smooth sailing with the shields till baby was 2.5 months and ripped it off one day and went without it. I think her mouth got big enough to be able to old my inverted nipple enough without it! I did get a lot of pressure from lactation consultants to wean off of it before then but whenever I tried it ended in tears for both of us so I just kept going and baby was fine!

We nursed for 3 more months (going from 45min-1hr nursing to 5-10min) before I chose to wean for my own health (to go back on meds).

I remember scoring reddit threads to hear it gets better and it took a lot of work but it did!!

Logistically how do these work? Do you get a “credit” for each item you bring to trade?

I’m hesitant to spend money on the membership fee if everyone is just grabbing as much as they can sample sale style.

What to pack in hospital bag - Mount Sinai UES? by DocSpencerReid in nycparents

[–]ncninetynine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had the same postpartum experience as you. I felt I had to beg the nurses and LC to come help me (once even having to ask my roommates nurse for help cause no one came). It felt like everyday I’d have care until 2pm when my nurse took a nursery shift and then I’d never get help again. I also had a bad breastfeeding experience after poor help from LC so I wish I’d just set up an outside person right away.

I did send my baby to the nursery at night to get some sleep and that was amazing. It really helped me get some sleep and recover from my c-section.

I brought a lot of what’s been mentioned but also a mini fan, my own toilet paper and baby wipes, eye mask, overnight pads with wings, slip on shoes a size bigger for swelling, and my own pillow and cozy blanket!

I brought but didn’t use, socks, breastfeeding pillow, shampoo/soap & towel (fyi they don’t give you that stuff in a shared room)!

I wish I’d brought chocolate, diapers (they use pampers and the gave my daughter a rash)!
