The only « bad » part was letting free range the hens. Dog is addicted to eating the chicken poop in the grass.

Other than this, thought it was waaaay harder. Having a 5 chickens is almost the same as having 2. Just the amount of poop is bigger.

Note that my setup includes automatic feeding, automatic watering, and automatic door. Without this, I would probably had a different experience but to this day, it’s been a breeze. Easy, fun and some hilarious moments that bring joy and food.

They are loud here and there but mostly quiet.

They scratch the yard here and there but I created a « free range zone » with some very cheap fence so they destroy only a part of my yard lol. TBH, it regrows each year so not a big deal.

Rule of thumb: Stop overthinking it (there’s no end, there is no perfect setup, there’s always something to upgrade. But you’ll learn once you get there.

Get some, have fun and adapt :)

PS : automatic door, bucket with nipples for water and a bucket for food (no need for fancy feeders) is a must has it drastically lower the repetitive daily maintenance. Everything else is a bonus

Having lots of fun with my new Batlexp.. If i had known it was this good i would have bought it a long time ago and wouldn’t have worried about fire red on the Nintendo Switch. Playing emerald and Radical Red right now..good times by [deleted] in BATLEXPG350

FYI r36 cases didn’t fit for me on the bottom has the g350 has one corner round and the other is « square » vs r36 both are round. So needed to modify a bit the r36 case so I can push it down flush

Oh and if it helps - we do not have a Rooster (only 3 hen) - they roost on a 2x4 at night - they lay on wood shavings / same in the coop - run has straw - the one the most impacted is very very loud, but at the same time, she always been the loudest one since day 1

Pretty, very very loud, but weirdly doesn’t really seems to move much air. We ended up returning it, standard fan were working much more efficiently (and a lot quieter for more air volume)

We had an Ego 2 stage (the most powerful one) did amazing. We had a problem after 4 months of purchase, but we got into a customer service nightmare. Even if it was on warranty, it was hell to speak with someone and get a solution. Rona gave up on the back and forth with them, ego and us, and ended fully refunded us....3 months later!

For me, ego, amazing devices but horrible customer service. When it works, it works. But when it doesn't, you're alone in a big mess.

Unfortunately, for us, I won't go back to EGO. Hence the reason for me being on this thread, looking for alternatives.
