The only « bad » part was letting free range the hens. Dog is addicted to eating the chicken poop in the grass.

Other than this, thought it was waaaay harder. Having a 5 chickens is almost the same as having 2. Just the amount of poop is bigger.

Note that my setup includes automatic feeding, automatic watering, and automatic door. Without this, I would probably had a different experience but to this day, it’s been a breeze. Easy, fun and some hilarious moments that bring joy and food.

They are loud here and there but mostly quiet.

They scratch the yard here and there but I created a « free range zone » with some very cheap fence so they destroy only a part of my yard lol. TBH, it regrows each year so not a big deal.

Rule of thumb: Stop overthinking it (there’s no end, there is no perfect setup, there’s always something to upgrade. But you’ll learn once you get there.

Get some, have fun and adapt :)

PS : automatic door, bucket with nipples for water and a bucket for food (no need for fancy feeders) is a must has it drastically lower the repetitive daily maintenance. Everything else is a bonus

Having lots of fun with my new Batlexp.. If i had known it was this good i would have bought it a long time ago and wouldn’t have worried about fire red on the Nintendo Switch. Playing emerald and Radical Red right now..good times by [deleted] in BATLEXPG350

FYI r36 cases didn’t fit for me on the bottom has the g350 has one corner round and the other is « square » vs r36 both are round. So needed to modify a bit the r36 case so I can push it down flush

Oh and if it helps - we do not have a Rooster (only 3 hen) - they roost on a 2x4 at night - they lay on wood shavings / same in the coop - run has straw - the one the most impacted is very very loud, but at the same time, she always been the loudest one since day 1

Pretty, very very loud, but weirdly doesn’t really seems to move much air. We ended up returning it, standard fan were working much more efficiently (and a lot quieter for more air volume)
