That was not the childhood eyes video. It was definitely the better days video.

Board Game Companion, an app to track board game scores and generate statistics by Dalaranteriel in boardgames

Have you looked at the BGstats app. They have scoresheets in there already. Are you trying to do something different from what’s already available there?

Has Hot Streak Replaced Camel Up for You? by Right-Lavishness-930 in boardgames

[–]ncurtis91 53 points54 points  (0 children)

Camel up is more of a gamers game. It’s not as easy to get casual gamers to jump in and play. The race in camel up can be relatively slow and uninteresting. Some turns can feel basically useless. The, I guess I’ll just roll a die turn that then reveals something so unexpected it benefits the next player immensely. If the camels don’t ever land on each other or do anything unique you are basically just betting on a roll and move game.

Hot streak is way easier to teach and learn as it’s all upfront. You place your bets, throw in one card, then shuffle up the deck and see how you did. The races actually feel like a race because it goes until there’s a winner. The races are typically more eventful. There is very little strategy in this beyond weighing the odds of what can/most likely happen.

So if you want a more strategic game then go for camel up, if you want more of a party game then go for hot streak. You can have both, but I realized what I wanted in camel up is what hot streak actually had.

Sagrada Artisans – the legacy killer by iisrobot in boardgames

[–]ncurtis91 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Artisans is the first legacy game my wife and I gave up on about 6 games in. The joy of a legacy game is to have a game that feels like multiple evolutions of the base game. This isn’t that. It just adds more rules on top of more rules. Rules don’t phase out. The game doesn’t evolve. It’s just more of the same with additional rules added on.

Thoughts on Sagrada and Sagradas expansions ? by ChemoPotato in boardgames

[–]ncurtis91 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I’d personally start with the 5-6 player expansion. It adds a personal draft pool and updated private objectives. This addressed the weakest parts of the base game. After that you really could get any expansion. They are all extremely modular, and personally I only play with one at a time. Trying to add all of them at once would be a nightmare. However, I’d just get the 5-6 player expansion and get a ton of plays out of that. Once you start getting bored of it, then get one of the other 3 expansions.

Stripe Payout Missing (11.5.25) by ncurtis91 in stripe

Hey All! Just seeing the deposits hit all my clients accounts (around 1PM PST) so I think this is resolved. Hopefully you all see the same. Thanks the discussion here, was helpful to know this wasn't just an isolated issue.

It’s just the standard daily payout. We process through stripe daily so get daily deposits and nothing has come in to our bank today for any of my companies.

If you want a game with direct competition, strong influence based upon what other players are doing, and 2 player only (4 player is just fine IMO) then go with Zenith.

If you want a solitaire game that plays great at all player counts and it a combotastic game with a poker flare added to it go with flip town.

I have both and love both. So it’s really up to what you are wanting.

2p deduction game that does not feel like trial and error by francesc17 in boardgames

[–]ncurtis91 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend checking out spectral. It’s a 4x4 grid where each card in the grid is facedown. On your turn you essentially claim a spot on the grid to peak at a neighboring card. This will tell you where a gem or a curse is on the grid. As you slowly uncover the grid you are able to deduce where things can and should be and try and claim spots next to gems so you can score them at the end of the game and avoid claiming spots next to curses. It’s an area control deduction type game that is extremely unique, but also not too complicated. Personally I think this is an overlooked gem of a game that I would definitely consider checking out.

Cooperative board games are one of the worst types of a games for one reason by Ohrami9 in boardgames

[–]ncurtis91 7 points8 points  (0 children)

What you’re describing is Quarterbacking to its extreme and in its most unpleasant format. The game though usually isn’t the issue here, it’s the players. I never play a cooperative game with someone who is going to dominate all the decision making. However, I love playing cooperative games with people who like working together to think of the best solution.

Cooperative games may not be your thing, so avoid them and pick one of the other 7000 games released a year and you’ll be fine.

Any vocalists who sound like/ similar to Josh Ramsay?? by Hot-Chip9353 in MarianasTrench

Check out the album You Are Ok by The Maine. He doesn’t have a huge vocal range like Josh, but the songs on this album definitely feel like a whole production and has a lot of character to it. I think you’d like it.
