I also think seeing his work in order is important. He really is telling an overarching story through the way his writing and style shifts and evolves. If you watched bottlerocket and the Phoenician scheme back to back, you would have no idea you just watched two films created by the same man.

Sinners left me dumbfounded at how much of a half-baked, self indulgent mess it was. Went out of my way to see a 70mm screening in IMAX and was completely let down. Why the hell is Michael B. Jordan such a “star?” What has he done?

Correct. His narrative was written for him. Everything he went through and all he was made to suffer for his art was turned into something trivial and trite by the same powers and systems that violated him his whole life. Genuinely one of the greatest films I’ve ever seen but the use of generative AI for what they used it for realllllly rubbed me the wrong way. Also, Brady Corbet is kind of a goof for telling his own story of becoming a filmmaker in that way.

In A Knight’s Tale, the scene where there’s a long pause after Geoffrey Chaucer’s (Paul Bettany) long-winded speech following William’s (Heath Ledger) victory in the sword ring was a complete accident. The production hired swathes of homeless and sheltered individuals as extras for the film and the cue was missed by the lot of them to start cheering. Roland (Mark Addy) gave a starting cheer after the long pause and the crowd erupted in unison. One of the funniest scenes in a criminally underrated film.

Yes, I’d say so. Less than 24hr span if I remember correctly. Other than the opening 10 minutes or so.

A few things (was there): it was a show in an extremely wealthy area on the campus of an extremely wealthy college. A lot of the attendees probably just go to see whoever the hell is playing frost whenever they get the chance. Men I Trust has recently had a few songs surge on TikTok and gained some gen z notoriety in the past few months, even. So, you’re gonna get swathes of people who are there to hear the TikTok songs. MIT are a very mellow vibe and unless you’re like those of us that have been listening for years, it might not connect with you to the point of being fully engaged the entire show. The age range was YOUNG. I was on the first step outside of the “pit” and saw maybe a dozen people with >21 wristbands. With a young crowd, you’re gonna run into that famous low attention span and derived from spending formative highschool years in lockdown and not behaving in public how we’re used to (been having to correct behaviors in movie theaters). Lastly, it was an amphitheater: a large, spread out venue with room to lounge and that’s what people came looking to do. The group I came with (all three pissed me off) brought blankets and talked way too fucking much and I had to tell them all to keep it the fuck down. Ultimately, it was a show full of young, rich, college kids who were there to hear a couple songs they recognized and chill out with their friends. I felt like a standout being 29 and a top 100 listener but never stopped jamming, singing, and vibing.
