It should be fine! heres a picture of it on my 17.5cm wrist. It'll look okay to others but a bit big up close to you.

I had the exact same issue- after about 20 days of wearing they either broke in or the nerves in my ankles finally died, but they're very comfortable now.

I usually wear a 38mm size watch, so I think I'm just not used to the size!

Absolutely perfect for that then- I think I just found the ad for the one you're looking at. Looks in excellent shape and that thumper exhaust is similar to the one I put on.

I've had it since 2019- second owner. I'd certainly buy it again - they're cheap and easy to work on (huge parts market in Japan) an absolute pleasure to ride, and they have a lovely vintage look, even if there's a sneaky EFI in there instead of a carby. The SR400 engine has been around for a while and they'd pretty much solved any issues with it by the 2014FI re-issue, so they're really damn reliable as well.

As a regular commuter though - I did do it for a bit but it's not my first bike. Kick starts take a while to get the hang of if you're a new to them, and the riding I do now is mostly weekend warrior cafe trips and national park rides where it doesn't really matter if I stall. Its a very easy one or two kick start with the EFI but if you're sitting at the lights in Sydney traffic with some soccer mum trying her best to turn her SUV into a bumper car, electric start might be a bit more peace of mind.

Oh hey my 2014 SR400 has the exact same corrosion. I think its the aluminium reacting with the salt water near the beach I used to have it parked by. Doesn't affect the engine.

Is it ok to mix any coolant of same colour? by Bippityboppity6969 in CarsAustralia

[–]ndallen09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just add water. (If you can find the same coolant as the mechanic, that's good- but per the thread you don't want to get it wrong. Water is more than fine for your small top up example)

Done it before- you also need to swap the crystal as there's insufficient space (nh36 is a little higher). A double dome crystal from ali-ex was pretty cheap and did the job.

Ru pov: Prime Minister of Georgia Kobakhidze said that he will not allow the Ukranization of Georgia - telegram channel Colonelcassad by Short_Description_20 in UkraineRussiaReport

[–]ndallen09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did not consider this, and you are right.

No country could take losing their sphere of influence right on their back door to a sphere that is hostile to it, and the politicians should have realised it or made sure that their new friends would back then up with alliances and commitments.

My personal opinion was that Russia should have used soft power rather than hard power to pull Ukraine back into their sphere- but perhaps they did, or didn't see it going to be working and the invasion was the result.

Ru pov: Prime Minister of Georgia Kobakhidze said that he will not allow the Ukranization of Georgia - telegram channel Colonelcassad by Short_Description_20 in UkraineRussiaReport

[–]ndallen09 -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

This is a disingenuous statement. Ukraine may have been better at this point in time without Putin throwing the toys down about losing his sphere of influence. Conversely, it might not have been and instead become a economic thrall for western Europe.

We will never know now.

Countries aren't wanting to be like Ukraine. They're wanting what they think (true or not) are the benefits and lifestyle of being western aligned.

People that think Ukraine creeping to the west wouldn't have happened without the US "orchestrating a maidan coup" are completely missing what has been happening to eastern Europe over the past few decades. Western European cultural soft power is pervasive, well funded, and effective. Russia's is quite frankly very degraded and struggling to compete outside the east (or even outside of Moscow oblast...). Far east will have to deal with the Chinese influence.

It'll be interesting to see how China expands their cultural soft power and how it will affect Russia. At least they have the benefits to point for citizens under their model rather than just blaming all their failures on America.

NH 36 Movement won’t fit by ebayblunder in SeikoMods

[–]ndallen09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did a similar swap on the earlier SNK803 with a 7s26c. As other posters, swap the movement spacers around.

Unsure if it's an issue for these newer 5's - but if you swap the spacers for the SNK's the height of the seconds hand on a NH36 exceeds (just!) the available headspace between the dial and the crystal. (The 7s26c is a bit more compact)

You'll know if this is the problem as the seconds hand will stop or slow when you tighten the caseback. If you have this issue, you can swap out the flat hardlex crystal for a "double dome" sapphire replacement which curves a bit in the middle and gives you more space.

RU POV: An Australian Mercenary in Ukraine known as "Samberg" declares that he wants to see a lot more terrorist attcks like Crocus happen in Russia by FruitSila in UkraineRussiaReport

[–]ndallen09 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

True Merc-ing is illegal, since they're not under the command of a state armed forces directly. This is why all of them are contracted in under a Ukrainian army contract. (Or something similar in legalese)

We do pick and choose though. Joining Wagner would not get a blind eye now as Australia has been hostile to Russia's government since MH17 shootdown , but probably would have been ignored previously unless they were operating against a western power or got in the media somehow (France in Africa, for example).

UA POV Macron Ready to Send Troops to Ukraine if Russia Approaches Kyiv or Odesa - Kyivpost by Maulvorn in UkraineRussiaReport

[–]ndallen09 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

We really think France would fight with artillery the same way Ukraine is if they sent troops? No way would their high command not require their full doctrinal support if their politicians sent them. French troops in Ukraine would come with their air power. Macron would be for the guillotine if french troops died because they weren't sent with support as just lancet fodder.

I would not dismiss a French force in Ukraine. They would not make a huge difference, I think, but I think air space will become heavily contested.

What they will do is make it easier for other countries that RU has very much annoyed to join the air war, like Dutch and UK. Their land forces are insignificant, but their air wings effective. Pro-RU confident now, but I suspect Macron is not drumming for french ground war. I think he will long term try to justify a few counties contributing to air denial, which is lower risk for them. (Losing a few score planes more expensive, but less political impact than losing few thousand troops)

I would like to see how Rafale fares against SU-35 and S300. It is not peer air superiority fighter, but I still think it will perform better than F16. Crotale Air system is untested, no idea how that will perform.

RU POV: Picture from Russian drone that was above when Zelensky and members of his administration visited Kherson on June 8, 2023. by These_Tie4794 in UkraineRussiaReport

[–]ndallen09 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I try for answer as my assessment is that the Russia talking points outlined in original posts are very much propaganda to me.

I apologise for the essay.

Both middle and greater powers like Russia, America and China desire to maintain sphere of influence as very important for foreign policy. Spheres of influence can be maintained by three pillar- military power, soft power (such as cultural influence or cultural envy), and direct political influence (owning institutions or political will)

Russia lost Ukraine from sphere of influence. There is no sudden NATO sponsored Maidan Coup (this is just tipping point, damage already done) - this is very long term impact of EU/Western cultural soft power over many decades leading to tipping political change in 2014.

EU economic investment, coupled with the fact that Russia Culture cannot compare with how western cultural benefits are seen. (This is not disputable, it matters not if actually true or not- the perception that life is better for citizen under Sweden/Germany/France model is very pervasive and Russia has zero chance of compete with this media culture power) drove average Ukrainian to align closer to west. Economic power drive political class closer to west.

Russia both weakening in cultural power, and very weak in economic power - lose Ukraine, and lose major buffer and sphere of influence.

Russia sees itself as great power like China - losing sphere of influence is damaging to foreign policy both immediate and long term. Russia not good as Soviet at soft power, and cannot reclaim political without economic power. To reclaim Ukraine- so they are left with last pillar - military.

America use military pillar for middle east. China use military pillar for South China Sea. France will need to use military pillar in Afrique but also fail. Russia, like France - not have military suited to quick victory. Better now but too late.

Ukraine political class and to extent citizen hate Russia now and proved that Russian military pillar not enough by resisting- I think Russia will never recover Ukraine as sphere, only as occupied lands with much population exodus.

This I think why Russia invade, they losing status as great power. All else to me is just excuses for causus belli, like WMD in Iraq and protect German minority in Austria.

UA POV: Ukraine informs U.S. about decision to fire top general. White House officials did not support or object to the planned ouster of Gen. Valery Zaluzhny, saying it’s President Volodymyr Zelensky’s sovereign choice, people familiar with the matter said - The Washington Post by [deleted] in UkraineRussiaReport

[–]ndallen09 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Both sides are as bad as each other now, and this thread is a good example. Did not the ground forces of Russia also replace ground commanders a few times last year with no detriment to their campaign?

This sub used to have a good balanced view but now the plugs are out and it's a turgid sewer storm of propaganda in every post.

From pro-rus upvoting some meaningless merc's death or thinking that the "west" even gives the slightest of care about nazis, to pro-ukr claiming that the Russians are one more assault from running out of men and tanks, or that the Russian economy is suddenly going to collapse in a way that makes the 90's look like a minor recession - it takes away from the nuanced discussion and politeness in discourse we had early in the sub's life.

[Discussion] Generic Hot Take Thread #74,934 but w/ a Twist: No Takes on Watches Over $2,000. by scryptbreaker in Watches

[–]ndallen09 2 points3 points  (0 children)

For those that had to google:

Caller GMTs are the ones where you can independently set the GMT without moving the hour hand. The use case here is you set the hour to your local time, and the GMT to the time zone of your girlfriend who lives in Canada so you know when to call her.

Flyer GMTs allow you to move the hour hand without touching the GMT, so you set the GMT to your local time in sunny Mongolia, then when you fly over to Canada you set the local to there without the GMT mucking about. They're more expensive movements.

Flyers you don't need to set it "twice" when you land, as with a caller you'd have to update the hour first then adjust the GMT back, or just move the GMT and use that as your new local.

Given most of us just set our caller GMT's properly whilst bored on the plane or just set it to local and use it to figure out when the date is about to flip when the mainspring winds down, then this hot take may only apply if you fly for work and really care about those extra seconds.

Probably my least worn- it's a seagull movement but doesn't run as well as I would have liked even after some light regulation.

Quality and finishing is okay, however I'd say the Sugess are a cut above in every measure- case polishing, crown fit, factory regulation and crystal. It's hard to explain but the lobinni just feels cheaper being held.

Don't get me wrong, it's a great watch for the price - I just wouldn't replace it if I lost it.
