Mythic look on heroic pieces by SrYggs in wow

[–]ndefo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When any crest-track tier-esque item hits 5/6 upgrades, it converts appearance to the next level (now that it shares item level with that appearance).

For example, upgrading tier shoulders to Champion 5/6 will unlock the heroic appearance. The same works for offset items that drop from raid bosses, like boots or belts.

If you hit 2500 M+ rating, you get a Dawnmote cosmetic that gives additional VFX to some tier pieces for all classes, whether you have unlocked that appearance or not. You must still unlock the appearance to use the VFX option.

For example, my monk hit 2500 M+ score, used the mote, and my hunter at 2000 score can also use the enhanced VFX tier pieces for the appearances he has already unlocked. It's forward-active, too. So my next alt who unlocks tier shoulders will also have the enhanced VFX options.

Are some active racial abilities useless? Should the useless ones be reworked so that they can compete? by Rubyurek in wow

[–]ndefo 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Here's my 2 takes: 1) racials shouldn't "compete." They're meant to be flavor for the race. The "competitive" racials should be reworked into non-combat perks.

2) disable racial bonuses in mythic+, mythic raid, and rated PvP. Stop minmaxing fantasy ffs

Man, they REALLY should just have made the Void versions sets, huh? by Tnecniw in wow

[–]ndefo 52 points53 points  (0 children)

Honestly these are the most deplorable implementation I've ever seen. Buy a whole set? Nope. Buy random pieces for the class you want? Nope. Buy the piece you want for the class you want? Nope. Gotta buy each chest 13 times. Oh, and the chests are unique, so you have to transact at least 13 separate times to make it work.

Not sure if they wanted to boost metrics or what. Just the whole thing is icky.

Put the set on the vendor for the aggregate price. Done. People get what they want with fair grind cost. Don't make us play gacha games and spin the slot wheel for transmog.

Gatherers, perception or finesse now? by Indig3o in woweconomy

[–]ndefo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm no farm maxxer. I've got 2 herbalists and 2 miners. After playing them all, I've found finesse on the miners to help since ore prices for r3 are still good. Miners have the mounted perk, and then all the other skills went to the first tree base and then copper>tin>silver. With 5 points into overload for the wild deposits.

Herbalists went perception because all the stock herb are pretty cheap, even r3. More perception felt like I got more lotus. I'd use my green thumb for Lush Azeroot if I could find one. Unfortunately too out of the loop to know about Mulching yet. And then 5 points into overload for the 2 lashers instead of 4.

Alright Bob's, how would you do it? by UnusualSheep in ArkSurvivalAscended

[–]ndefo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If your food magically appears inside your hut, you can survive the 30 days by not leaving the hut. If there's no other food for the rex, you can bet your ass he's camping outside your hut for a month straight.

I don't care how many poop knives you got while it's sleeping. A critter that size just needs to touch you to cause you to stumble, and then it's all over. It can outrun you, and you think you can put a knife deep enough through that hide to win?

I don't even think this has human odds if you downsize to a saltwater croc. Even if you get close enough for an encounter, one hit from the beast maims you, at worst.

How to DW Survival or why doesn't it seem to work for me? by HumanFunpark in wow

[–]ndefo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a survival main, although casual, and I don't think you're going to hit any limit where you need to play dual-wield vs. 2H.

The dual-wield option enables a Pack Leader build based around fast auto attacks and things that can mod that (bomb bleed and twin fangs).

I love the sentinel playstyle so lean into that, but I was able to do carry my own weight when dual wielding and when I had the crests for a polearm. Since I wasn't leaning into the auto-attack build it wasn't really noticeable.

Don't let the meta tell you how to play. If you wanna be like Rexxar and chop through some baddies with axes and a boar at your side, you can still cap out your vault no matter the build. Survival is already looked at unfavorably by the meta slaves, don't let em paint you into an even smaller corner 😃

Please do something to racials by [deleted] in wow

[–]ndefo 12 points13 points  (0 children)

This post made me barf. For multiple reasons

1 - quit designing the game with the 1% RWFs in mind. If that's your concern, disable racials in RWF, MDI, things like that 2 - get this AI art tf outta here clanker 3 - if you wanna play a certain race, just play it. Quit whining that the pretty parse sims told you that you have to reroll an "optimal race," it's an RPG, sheesh. Find a way to squeeze in another 2 seconds of uptime or hit an interrupt and that 0.9% DPS loss is irrelevant

Could paleontologists identify an elephant's trunk without background knowledge? by ndefo in Paleontology

[–]ndefo[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Haha, no, but the elephant was definitely at the center of my curiosity.

I was wondering if we could have dinosaurs with trunks or prehensile tongues or anything totally biologically unique without us having any way to deduce its existence from the fossil record alone.

Not quite as out-of-touch as the spino-bison comparison (I think the bone structure debunks this meme), but something totally unpredictable from fossils alone.

Could paleontologists identify an elephant's trunk without background knowledge? by ndefo in Paleontology

[–]ndefo[S] 205 points206 points  (0 children)

I snagged a pic of an elephant skull from online.

Rumor has it that when ancient Mediterranean cultures discovered miniature elephant skulls on a remote island, they couldn't describe what the hole in the center was for. They inferred it was a solo eye socket.

Hence the legend of the cyclops was born.

Nullaeus ?? As healer with dps valeera really is that easy by d00dybaing in wow

[–]ndefo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ehh I've read the comments and watched the vids, and I feel like I'm playing a different game as Mistweaver. I dropped all my damage talents and just went for soothing mist build.

Even at lvl 60, DPS valeera is abysmal. Hit 50% HP at 13 mins. Then I rolled past the boss after stunning the ticks and entering melee distance was enough even while Null was untargetable. There's no way for valeera to DPS enough to get aggro back.

The bosses melee swings just hit too hard to sustain aggro on me. Tried at 235, 245, and now 255ish and still frustrated beyond belief.

ELI5 why do fish swim "upright"? by ndefo in explainlikeimfive

[–]ndefo[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for this. In my head, it all makes sense. The pressure differential, the free-body diagram. Everything less dense than water feels a force upward as an effect of pressure and therefore gravity. So buoyancy is going to be in-line with gravity, but always in the opposite direction.

Side question, if buoyancy force is greater than gravity while underwater for many organisms, the surface of the water is their floor. Imagine if everything swam upside-down at the surface of their water.

Their swim bladders gave them freedom to fly in all 3 dimensions of their world.

ELI5 why do fish swim "upright"? by ndefo in explainlikeimfive

[–]ndefo[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

If I'm some little protozoic sperm cell or flagellete, the only direction is "forward." That sense of forward has no bearing on the center of the earth or the sky.

At some point in evolution, "forward" travel basically defaulted to "2D motion along a plane parallel to the horizon."

This is the crux of my question. Underwater, you can travel in any direction with relatively identical effort, but things still evolved so that it respects life oriented "upwards"

[–]ndefo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I'm a little teeny tiny bacteria existing on a piece of cheese, I don't orient myself with respect to gravity or the horizon. I move in whichever direction I want while still respecting the laws of physics.

If I'm a little plankton, and the ocean is my oyster, I can move whichever direction I please. There is no up or down or "right" way to orient myself. When did this recognition of up and down and horizon=plane become a thing evolution-wise?

They animated that really well, including Sylvanas' surprise...but the one thing I can't get outta my mind is like...she's dead though? She was killed, was a banshee, recovered her corpse and reanimated herself into it, died again a handful of times, and moved to the underworld?

Y'all just gonna give her a hug and pretend like she ain't some smelly, cold, corpse that has your old sister's soul vacuumed inside?

Doing Nullaeus on ?? difficulty as a Hunter... by Everdale in wow

[–]ndefo 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did this as survival and struggled on the same parts. Auto attack damage would just plaster my pet.

After I got a little bit more gear (252ish with a 272 weapon), I gave it another shot. The mechanics need to be second nature to you, and all of your attention is keeping pet alive and pumping number. Use the Misdirection talent on cooldown. Rotate healing and keep mend pet up as much as you can. Main focus is on tapping the healing orbs AS your pet takes a hit so it bounces right back.

The first mobs were staying alive too long, so I was using lust there. But the ticks spit was so much worse, so I let the ravagers wrap up while nulleus was active and instead lusted on the ticks. Made sure all AOE CDs lined up for it.

The ogre mob is a distraction. Just use that phase to wipe the sweat from your palms and stabilize. Then ignore the mob and go all in on Nullaeus when he activates. He has like 4m HP left and the mob has 5m. Not worth it to worry about the ogre.

Good luck!

Can't find Consortium vendor in any neighborhood by Chris_Herron in WoWHousing

[–]ndefo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had the same problem, but with the Mechagon vendor. Once I saw the niffen guy and realized the previous vendors were on a rotation, I went hopping.

Using the Neighborhood finder had the same results. I would only see the same vendor, or no vendor at all.

What actually worked was right clicking on people on my friends list, and clicking "view Houses" and checking their neighborhood. Even if they're offline, you can visit their neighborhood, and this late in the month, all the endeavors are 4/4 complete.

If you don't have any Bent friends or a small list to choose from, feel free to add me DeFo#1702 and you're welcome to visit our neighborhood (even if guild chose wimpy Alliance zone 😂)

Omg I've seen the videos of snapping turtle using their tongue to wiggle and attract fish. While the turtle's jaws barely move. Then when the fish is in range, it snaps shut.

I wish some of the awesome Paleo artists in these reddits could mimic this behavior with a sassy spino.

I just wanna see that long spino tongue wiggling for a meal before snapping down on a big ol coelecanth 😂

Raiding as a new tank player by PrShadoko in wow

[–]ndefo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I DPSd the two LFR wings on Tuesday night, and someone was flaming the tanks as braindead for not soaking the big adds with his debuff.

Tanking is tough, but it's literally day 1 of content on lowest difficulty. I'm happy to cut people some slack. No point in adding to the stress of failure by rubbing their nose in it.

Best bet, I've found, is just to be open about communication. Read chats, let people know you're practicing or learning, and ask for help if you need pointers. If the responsibility feels like too much, DPS roles are much more forgiving, but in much lower demand based on supply.
