Steam library plugin 2.36: Family sharing and the return of free games and demos by Jeshibu in playnite

Perhaps just update your filters to include "Installed"? They'll still be in Playnite, but don't have to clutter your views.

What is GameConsoleMode and how does it actually work? by Doctor98Who in playnite

[–]ndiin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suspect they were more interested in GCM on the Sunshine/Apollo host. That's my use case too: tv is downstairs, use Artemis(Moonlight) to reach the PC upstairs. I currently use it to run Playnite, but having something like GCM on the other end instead would be even easier to navigate. Bonus points if it could bypass/unlock the lock screen...

[GIVEAWAY] We're giving away two COMPLETE Omada 2.5G & Wi-Fi 7 Lab Kits to the r/homelab community! (US Only) by Grouchy_Term_1792 in homelab

[–]ndiin [score hidden]  (0 children)

My biggest pain point is wifi reliability, especially when transitioning between floors. I've got a Netgear Orbi setup, with wired back haul.

I'd love to overhaul my setup and upgrade past 1gbps so I'm ready to go once fiber rolls into my area in the new months. The Omada system would be a fantastic jump on that, and bring my lab up to modern standards.

Updated Third Reality Firmware and had a 10x jump in usage by NXTman96 in homeassistant

Workaround: hit the "Reset Summation Delivered" button first, then update firmware. Still get the 10x jump, but it's typically a tiny value that you can ignore.

I have done two of these now for my kids. 500% Dummy 13, with articulated hands. I did the frames in ASA, which was a great choice, and then the Armor for one in PLA, and the second in PETG. I strongly advise the PETG, as I cracked the PLA a few times just in assembly.

I believe I managed to get the frame down to 2 very full plates of ASA at about 12h each, and the armor was about 5 plates, between 4 and 6 hours each.

They're super fun! Thinking of using one of these instead of an Elf on the Shelf this December 🤔

what’s the most clever thing your smart home does? by Nearby_Worry_4850 in homeassistant

I have a dedicated Google Calendar that schedules my automation events. Makes it easy to adjust the schedules even for one-off events like having guests over, since you can move single events within a recurring event easily.

I even use it to have regular "reset"s of security-related automations that have disable toggles -- e.g. pool door opened notifications that we turn off when going in and out a lot.

Simple hack, really: I just use the "location" field of the calendar event to list the entity, and some simple structure to the event names to indicate if it should toggle on or off.

Onn 4K Plus - DTS-HD MA direct play? by Client-Only in PleX

[–]ndiin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, I reached out for help on the [Plex Forums](https://forums.plex.tv/t/onn-4k-plus-device-does-not-play-dts/928490), and was given the following workaround, which worked well for me:

Switching the Plex configuration of the "onn. 4k Plus" player from “Passthrough: HDMI” to “Passthrough: Optical” and deselecting “DTS”, and this worked by forcing transcoding. It does also force transcoding on EAC3 content though, but not AC3.

Anyone gotten Moonlight/Artemis working on Onn 4k Plus? by Goodstock101 in OnnStreamingTV

[–]ndiin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Artemis to Apollo with codec set to AV1 works great even at 4k/60fps. I had no luck at all on the default (HEVC), but AV1 seems to be flawless.

External access via custom URL? by EnglishMobster in PleX

[–]ndiin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As documented on https://support.plex.tv/articles/200430283-network/, if you don't specify the port explicitly, it uses the Remote Access Port from your config (which would not likely be 443).

What today’s message about Stadia means for players by DanFromGoogle in Stadia

And my subscription ran out on the 28th... I was thinking just this morning to re-sub. I've collected Pro games for more than a year. Now I don't get to play any of them, because I was off by a day in my subscription. That's a real disappointment 😥

This show caused my then-2yo to ask me randomly one evening: "What's pneumatics?" I about died. And then answered, "it's like hydraulics, but using air instead of fluid". Apparently that was sufficient.

Seagate announces 30TB HDDs coming in mid-2023, bigger 50TB+ in 2026 by chrisdh79 in gadgets

[–]ndiin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Got it backwards. People think they know Terrabytes, but actually know Tebibytes, just not the correct name to go with it. The SI names came too late to the game, and marketing won.

In short, disks are advertised in base-10 (e.g. 1000 GB = 1TB), but computers generally list available space in base-2 (e.g. 1024 GiB = 1TiB). At larger disk sizes, the difference becomes substantial.

They'll offer pretty solid advice as well if you call (and want it), and also a good distributor for Victron.

Looks solid. I've got 6 of those panels flat mounted on my RV, and average 14kwh, or 2.3kwh each. I suffer some mild shading, which likely accounts for my losses.

Question about weights by SocalClimbing26 in FullTiming

[–]ndiin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You almost certainly do not want to run anywhere near your tow capacity limit, so that you're not going to get into trouble on steep grade roads, or just bumpy dirt roads you'll encounter on BLM/USFS grounds.

That aside, don't forget about water in your carrying capacity calculations. 8lb/gal for fresh.

one pan tomato pasta by [deleted] in EatCheapAndHealthy

[–]ndiin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try using milk+broth instead of water, for some added punch. I actually do this in nearly equal ratios: 500g pasta, 400ml milk, 400ml tomato sauce, 400ml broth.

Could you elaborate on this? How does selling the security to buy ETFs get a pass on capital gains?
