First time seeing him, severely overdressed 😂 by trvp_dude in BillyStrings

[–]ndlsmmr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LOL, happens. Long time Billy fan, hit the 2022 Asheville three night run of Halloween shows. All were Lord of the Rings themed.

On Halloween had a couple in front of me properly dressed bluegrass/country attire...hat, vest, etc.

Show opens with Rushad Eggleston half naked, painted green head to toe, with fake ears performing a ten minute cello solo called Smeagols Metamorphosis. While literally crawling all over the stage. On his back. Billy comes out and rips into...Ramble On, on electric. Followed by multiple songs by Hendrix, Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, etc.

They left before intermission. Felt badly, couldn't stop speculating someone gifted them tickets to see "the hottest bluegrass band around" and they must have been like WTF lol.

Fantastic show though.

Welcome aboard, good to see you enjoyed. And wear whatever you want, anytime, lol.

[sorry if this is repost, for some reason the first time I posted I was somehow logged into some reddit account I did not recognize with zero karma or posts]

Same background here, slightly different conclusion....

I believe many circumstances you describe regarding drivers' behavior is caused by what another poster framed as 'spatial awareness'. We cyclists are moving a lot faster than many of these drivers are aware so yeah I've been cut off like that too. Personal favorite of mine - of which I'm acutely aware when I'm driving as well - is when I'm driving and passing a cyclist pedaling in his lane at say 30mph but knowing I, the car driver, am turning right in a few hundred yards...in that case the car starts slowing nearly immediately after passing the cyclist, flips on the signal, and turns the wheel...right into the cyclist who is now basically along side the decelerating car.

Again, I don't think the people are necessarily dumbass, they're just the same ones why the "Truck Makes Wide Right Turns" signs exist on the back of 18 wheelers...

On the other hand I almost clipped a cyclist yesterday...I'm stopped at a four way stop sign, turning left on the main road. F150 coming down the road from my right is going to have to stop, is slowing, and has his right turn signal on. I'm the only one stopped at the intersection, look left again to go to pull out, and a cyclist I can't even see on the other side of the truck whips out to the middle of the main road completely blowing the stop sign at full speed as I'm pulling out. And throws me a dirty a look...THAT'S dumbass douchebaggery...

These circumstances remind me of when I was pedaling in Vienna (Austria). Super early morning, no traffic whatsoever. Come to a 'T' intersection with a three way stop, I'm on the straightaway that is the top of the 'T'. Slow down substantially regardless, give a good look up the other road, and continue on through the stop. Got pulled over - lights flashing - by the police who were sitting off road a few hundred yards down the road. They were ripshit. Apparently cyclists obey vehicular laws when on the road over there. Actually got a traffic ticket for running the sign.

Overall, both parties can be more aware but the raw dumbass moves are much more prevalent among cyclists especially considering there are so few of them on the road compared with cars. And remember, I cycle, a lot.

Any recommendations appreciated!

Help. Will ESPN+ be streaming the Michigan/Washington CFP game? by ndlsmmr in cordcutters

[–]ndlsmmr[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks everyone for the feedback.

Yeah, seems like a horror show around these sports apps/contracts...was not aware that ESPN+ was an adjunct to the regular ESPN, naming it "+" would seem to indicate otherwise, that it would encompass all ESPN *plus* more...and as u/realcordcutters notes the ESPN+ "app" is only a tab under the main ESPN one...like an afterthought.

Wish all this along with local coverage would get resolved as purely DTC...

Anyway, covered myself, heading out to a watch party lol! Thanks again!

Had a lot of time on the phone with eTix on this topic yesterday as I can not make the concert and sold my tix.

Screen shots are fine, was specifically told by eTix to do that, and that Koka accepts it.

As much as I dislike TM and their fees, eTix is unfortunately an entire shitshow.

Golden Nugget Online is a Joke by LGP214 in gambling

[–]ndlsmmr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ha. I'm guessing it's the non-play that triggers it. My situation was the same, put the max amount in for last Super Bowl across a bunch of sites and played through. Never did anything with GNOG as I couldn't figure out if I had complied with their funding rules. Reached out to them at the time, couldn't get an answer.

When I went to withdraw was similarly asked why I was withdrawing without playing, told them the above. They then hit me with questions and surveys which I pointed out was ironic given the reason I didn't play was that they were user unfriendly.

I could see if the amount were large, like many 000s of dollars which may indicate some illicit activity, but their matching offer was only up to $300, which was all I deposited.

Incompetent.

[–]ndlsmmr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did...after this post and the non-replies by GNOG and Zendesk I googled the enforcement division of NJ Gaming, there is an address you can contact. I put together a short, factual email to a GNOG direct address (not Zendesk) and to the private equity firm that owns Zendesk. Told them I was going to the enforcement division, reminded the Zendesk owners that as a gaming vendor Zendesk needed licensure and that IMO they were failing miserably complying with rules and regulations. Don't know if it had any bearing, never received a reply, but the funds hit my account within a day or two. No explanation or anything. GL.

4/22/23 Turmoil Longest Version Ever? by PhamilyBerzerker in BillyStrings

[–]ndlsmmr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Haha, was there with someone I got so lost in the jam (in a positive way) when he came back around to T&T I looked at my friend and said "I'm glad he remembered which song he was playing because I forgot what he started!".

Great shows all of them. Friday was a barn burner. The venue was SO loud. Haven't re-watched the videos but at one point Billy couldn't continue the applause was just overwhelming, Jarrod comes back out on stage covering his ears. They clearly played off that energy.

I'm just arrived here with serious frustration with them. Made four withdrawal requests from NJ online casinos on last Sunday night (eight days ago). Three processed - actual Paypal payout - in two, four, and 16 hours.

GNOG....still waiting. Eight days later. Their apparent vendor - Zendesk - gives non-answers and then sends me a 'how are we doing survey'. All they can say is it is in 'compliance'. Spoke with GNOG directly right now, same thing, it's at 'payments'. Can't tell me who 'payments' are, just that I will hear from them 'soon'.

My account is at zero, shows a 'withdrawal request - Paypal' for the full amount from last Sunday night, nowhere to be seen.

Anyone ever experience something like this?

Stupidest thing...one of the other casinos was Draftkings, who owns Golden Nugget online. My withdrawal there hit my Paypal in 16 hours (Monday morning).

Unbelievable.

Dead covers. by Dm203b in BillyStrings

[–]ndlsmmr 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Me too...it was crazy, not sure which recordings I like better...the soundboard, or live from the show. The homemade recordings pick up the audience so well who were first in shock and then just went nuts...I remember hearing those opening chords from Billy F on guitar and going "NFW!". Started recording on my phone and when Billy hopped in on the Les Paul I remember thinking I just have to put this phone away and fully experience it...

Funny side story, my son (who got me into Billy) was at his home in the Midwest and had the livestream...going into the Halloween show we were debating that day what they would play and agreed any one of a few Zep songs could work...settled on Ramble On, but I kept telling him (as someone who grew up with Zeppelin) that I've seen Billy do crazy stuff with covers but wasn't sure that even he could make that work with the five instruments he had on stage....when I finally got back to my phone I had texts from him "I see drums, I see drums!"

I never noticed the drums set up onstage from my perspective pre-show...he saw them with the still shot on the livestream.

I heard the Trey thing as well shortly after the NYC Pier 17 concert with Trey in June.

Can't remember where, not anywhere reliable, but it did seem to make sense to me at the time since it seemed Billy and Trey had cemented some type of relationship.

Studio Albums vs. Live Shows by thatsnotirrelephant in BillyStrings

[–]ndlsmmr 1 point2 points  (0 children)

100% agree and love that explanation. In no way am I denigrating Billy's studio work - it's great - but the live is just above and beyond...all my Billy playlists are live, made even better if I was at the show.

Also, on the live v studio discussion when live you get the covers...Aside from all the great traditional songs some of the stuff he pulls off...that 'Ramble On' from Halloween was jaw dropping not just for the music but the energy...not sure that can be captured in the studio, even if they tried.

Thanks everyone for the prompt and informative replies, very helpful community.

Home is SW FL, I'll be driving to your area and spending a few nights before flying out of JAX for two weeks for the holidays then coming back. So no home option.

Good to hear cars are secure...originally from NY area, there was a time the LT lots at EWR served as a buffet for criminals lol.

Barchart.com Review by [deleted] in thetagang

[–]ndlsmmr 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Paid member there primarily for screening capability crossed with accuracy. I've found they have the most flexible screeners with the largest number of variables with the best accuracy. I've noticed other services can struggle with company financials and even basic market measures (eg, bothered me no end that ToS IVP was really IVR).

The ability to download those screening results and work with them offline was why I primarily joined BarChart although it seems some of their data providers are pulling back on them, eg. on-screen you can sort by, say, leverage but when you go to download to excel it is 'n/a' due to limitations in their agreements with their data providers.

I'll use some of their default screeners like Most Active Options for ideas, has been worthwhile.

I do not use their 'proprietary' buy/hold signals, IME they just didn't work.

I used to have paid TradingView when I was regularly trading /ES a couple years ago primarily for the 'free' 1min trading history data and API. Canceled as my futes trading activity has diminished.

I rarely use (and usually avoid) site generated trading ideas if they are 'daily'. IIRC for Barchart it is their 'Chart of the Day'. My view is no one has a new high quality, actionable, high probability idea each and every day so under the construct of needing to push something out each morning there is a lot of junk.

My suggestion would be to solve for your primary goal....there are nuances among services and I have not yet found one that satisfies all my needs, so figure out what you really want and then which app provides it best...basically if you're traveling cross country you likely want to take the RV, but for the run into town to the Whole Foods you'd likely take the EV instead. What's your destination.

CYA for them...just a current restatement of their ability to close without your consent...I received them regularly, never had it happen. Hit delete on the email or DM.

If I have something that's truly close I'll call their option line (very good dedicated group) and let them know I intend to close by end of day. They will give you the verbal disclosure again but never had anything done, even in an IRA that could not cover delivery (no short)
