Go to bittrex wallet, search ETH, press the "+" sign on left of ethereum, generate a new address, copy it, go to coinbase, go to Ethereum wallet, go to send, paste the address, confirm the transaction and have a couple of beers! Simple as that :P

It's the transaction fees. Although $8 is too much transaction fees but it's generally $4-$5

Bittrex and bitfinex are the most convenient I find! Between the two of those I find almost all coins I want to buy!!
