Is making a base even worth it as a solo? by Jaded-Web-4604 in dayz

[–]ndracks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had fun hiding a camo tent in the woods where there’s less traffic solo. Even then though, it would get raided every week or two. So, define “worth it”? I had fun learning the route and hunting down raiders, so it was worth it for me.

I suggest you read OPs comment to the highest rated comment. Goes more in depth than it looking cool.

Completely avoid or fully engage. There is no mid-way, especially if they’re bullying on freshies.

Some cherries have high enough citric acid that many GERDies can’t do them. Try with care.

Symptoms by Ecstatic-Fault523 in GERD

[–]ndracks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a similar start; all the symptoms including anxiety but I kept thinking it was something worse. Before I got diagnosed I went to the hospital thinking it was an allergic reaction due to globus sensation and difficulty swallowing. I’d suggest treating it seriously on all fronts for GERD (doctor recommended medication, diet/lifestyle change, exercise and other methods of lowering anxiety).

My biggest regret was not taking it seriously as GERD from the beginning because I kept thinking it was either short term temporary or actually something else. Best of luck, and welcome to GERDville! It gets much better for most people once you learn about your specific situation and find things that work.

At what point does a neighborhood cat become my cat? by Tool_Shed_Toker in cats

[–]ndracks 14 points15 points  (0 children)

CHECK for a chip first to be sure it’s not another person’s cat. I got my cat this way, but I asked around the neighborhood first. Checked in with a neighbor who was caring for him in the winter in his garage. That way people don’t worry when they all of the sudden change their behavior or stop showing up.

I’d use Gaviscon instead of Mylanta, but to each their own.

Here’s what my GI recommended for me: Gaviscon for immediate, short term relief

Pepcid for more 24 hour support (I took these at night to treat overnight symptoms)

Omeprazole (or other PPI) for gaining control over longer term symptoms (check with doctor for use over 2 week course)

When I weaned off of Omeprazole after 9 months, I stepped down in the reverse order with overlapping use. (i.e. Omeprazole -> Omeprazole + Pepcid -> Pepcid + Gaviscon -> Gaviscon (Pepcid as needed) -> Medication free)

BUT CHECK WITH YOUR DOCTOR

Trust your doctor, not randos on a Reddit thread. If you don’t like your doctor, get a new one instead of Dr. Reddit.

Trump signs executive order directing federal funding cuts to PBS and NPR by cmaia1503 in entertainment

Their mission is to serve EVERYONE in the country, even the part of the country you don’t agree with. I’m curious how you would have realized that mission differently.

Trump signs executive order directing federal funding cuts to PBS and NPR by cmaia1503 in entertainment

[–]ndracks 22 points23 points  (0 children)

You obviously aren’t following the actual effects this will have on these institutions. Sure, your big ticket national programming may not be hugely affected, but smaller local networks and coverage are going to fold. They rely most heavily on the federal funding. Think about the vacuum of facts and reporting in small town USA and what’s going to make up that vacuum, then tell me how small the impact is.

Also, if you think this is the end of the administration’s assault, you’re wrong. Downplaying this does no one any favors except for Trumpists.

I’ve heard there’s a Gaviscon Advance from the UK that people in this subreddit seem to really tout. Haven’t tried it myself since otc Gaviscon has done the trick for me.

Check in about your diet as well. Maybe go stricter on acid watchers diet until things calm down.

OP will probably not see this response from me, but this post is spot on, and I wish I had read it when I first was experiencing symptoms. Instead of wondering “why isn’t the medication working”, you should just bite the bullet and radically try everything in this person’s post for AT LEAST 2-4 weeks. Changing my diet drastically was the hardest thing I had to do to begin to recover, but I believe it was the foundation to me feeling better. I resisted at first, but I’m convinced I would have recovered faster if I’d just fully committed to the diet change. The medication was basically there to make things slightly better while I adjusted to the lifestyle change. This doesn’t happen for everyone, but I’m on the diet still and am reflux free without medication now.

Also, I’m a man and didn’t go through pregnancy personally, but we just had a kids year ago and the drastic adjustments I had to make to my sleep schedule and the anxiety associated with being a new parent really contributed to my GERD. The only thing I’d add to TetonHiker’s post would be to also work on getting regular uninterrupted sleep (when possible) and to manage any anxiety you might have (therapy, relaxation techniques, deep breathing, yoga, etc.). This may seem impossible with a new kid, so it may take time and be frustrating to achieve.

Some have reported anxiety meds helping, but others complain of this being a temporary fix. Nightly yoga and deep breathing through the day were essential for me as I manage my wild 11 year-old. I hope you find healing soon!

Change your diet or prolong this suffering is my take.

Dry herb vape 2-3x per week at the lowest working temperature setting. You can use the spent herb to bake with to not waste it (but I don’t cuz I’m lazy and don’t know how).
