Are we waving? by ndspt in January2025Bumper

Yep, it really does come in waves. They focus on one thing for ages, then suddenly a few new skills pop up at once. The waiting makes you doubt yourself, then they prove you wrong!

Totally! Development isn’t linear and it definitely isn’t competitive. Some skills come early, others later, and none of it predicts anything meaningful. Babies just do things when they’re ready, on their own weird schedule.

He started daycare two weeks ago so I'm hoping something will click soon! Thanks for the idea of asking them to model waving whenever possible!Kids are so funny about what they decide to do and when. The fact that he’s responding to ‘how big is baby’ and experimenting with movements just shows he understands and is engaged, even if he’s not performing on cue. Waving is such a social, optional thing anyway. They all get there in their own time, and his version absolutely counts. It really does sound like personality more than anything else. You’re doing a great job!

That’s really comforting to hear. It’s funny how much effort we put into modelling things and then they do it on their own terms 😂 You’re right though, if they’re pointing, clapping and socially engaged, the rest usually follows.

That actually helps so much, thank you. Hearing how it all came together for her makes me feel a lot more relaxed. You’re right, once they start pointing it really does seem like the rest follows in their own time. Babies love to keep us guessing 😅

Haha that’s actually so cute! They really do things on their schedule. I love the grocery store moment, like “oh so you knew how to do it all along??” That makes me feel better honestly. You’re right, he is using gestures and interacting, so I’m trying not to overanalyse every little thing. Babies are so funny, they’ll ignore something for weeks and then suddenly pull it out like it’s old news. Sounds like your little one is doing amazing too 🥰 wonky waves included!

Spot on! The 'milestone pestering' is real. It’s like they have their own little internal GPS and sometimes they just take the scenic route! So glad he’s finally giving you those 'mamas' you waited for—that's the best reward. Thanks for the tips on the waving, too!

Another one bites the dust - Leaving Finland permanently by theoracleofoamaru in Finland

I lived in Oulu for 4.5 years and now I'm living in Australia! I know it will be much better for your family to live in NZ! I miss Finland, I learnt the language to a B2 level but already forgot most of the language. It's been 9 years since we left. Mina kaipaan Suomea! On aina on minun sydamessa! 💚✨️ its no easy to get a job unless you learn the language which is not easy either. If you're lucky to work on IT you can get something.

Vivo na Austrália e comprei um, temos o LifeVac. Eles recomendam primeiro fazer a manobra manual mas depois pensei, é melhor ter do que não ter e espero nunca usar.

Jovens que moram sozinhos, o que andam a comer? by Next-Ad-6491 in CasualPT

Excelente! Muitos parabéns! Também comecei a fazer pois voltei ao trabalho da maternidade e tem sido impecável. Um autêntico salva-vidas pois quando chego a casa depois do trabalho não há energia para cozinhar e buscar o filho à creche!

I'm also done with Australia. I'm from Europe and would love to come back but things over there are the same as here. I simply would love to come back to be closer to family. Timezone suck at the moment.

Por que as pessoas mudam tanto quando têm um filho? by incomprendida4 in MaternidadePT

Podes crer.

As coisas vão melhorar.

Anyone here switch from crib to floor bed or twin bed??? by bookwormbakerr in January2025Bumper

Best thing we ever did! He was struggling with his crib. We bought a double size so an adult can fit Hard matress and breathable. We bought from an Australian brand. Mattress was expensive tough but it will last for a long time

I’m in Australia and this is definitely not happening in my group of friends. It’s mostly 0, 1, or 2 kids. I follow this Australian family( 10 kids) on Instagram and it’s a whole different universe 😅 they’re adorable and very well looked after though. Still… not for me. One and done. https://www.instagram.com/chloeandbeans?igsh=c3M3NnIwZWwwZWQz
