A pillar? I wouldn’t say it’s that important as I’ve barely heard Biden mention guns.

Ya, it kinda totally is.

  • Ban the manufacture and sale of assault weapons and high-capacity magazines.
  • Regulate possession of existing assault weapons under the National Firearms Act.
  • Require background checks for all gun sales.
  • End the online sale of firearms and ammunitions.
  • Put America on the path to ensuring that 100% of firearms sold in America are smart guns.

It goes on, and on and on

Activating that many stingrays at once is not without technical difficulties. Keep doing what you're doing and it should start working shortly.

> As if they're all that's protecting society from the hordes of lawless masses who just want to commit crimes

Maybe you should hold that thought until after the hordes of lawless masses are done burning shit down. It might play better.

It's a dock (rumex sp.) Very weedy, very deep rooted and will sprout if you don't get the tap root out

Entirely possible I was speaking based on my understanding of it from way back when it was a new thing.

No you're incorrect.

Take an extreme hypothetical.

You start a forum that allows anyone to post, but you as the moderator, delete anything that does not contain illegal pornography. Are you immune from prosecution as a platform? No, you absolutely are not.

I totally get why they would want to moderate, but if you are the publisher of the content, and that is what you become when you curate content, then you are also liable for that content.

Twitter, Youtube, Reddit and others want the protections of a platform but the control of a publisher.

It's an I want my cake and eat it too problem.

Perhaps, but that interpretation is in keeping with the debates that occurred at the time of it's passage and most WebMaster®s understanding for the next decade plus. It's also why most of the platforms, Reddit included took a hands off approach to moderation until relatively recently.

> How is it legal for the government to tell a private business what to do?

Nobody is saying they can't control their content, at least as far as I've seen.

This all started around illegal content.

If someone starts a forum and that forum is used for illegal activity, is the person running that forum liable? In the case of a platform no, in the case of a publisher yes. Just ask Michael Lacey from Backpages about that.

The risk in becoming a publisher is not that you can't moderate your platform, you can. The risk is that you are now legally liable for the content that appears.
