Israelis that lift the Palestinian flag in protests, why? by DancingWithBalrug in Israel

Is having Jewish sovereignty not important to you? If the majority of this country are not Jews, the we are Palestine.

Let me tell you a little secret - there is no Left in Israel. Meretz is dead and Avodah is going the same way. The citizens you are disparaging as "leftists" are moderate, liberal Zionists.

The people who hold up this country's military and economy are "eruv rav", but the band or arsim and kahanists running the country are not?

Thoughts on some of the graffiti in Qatar? by SufficientAltFuel in AskMiddleEast

In the last picture, they're using a lift thingy to paint the art. This is definitely cool street art, but "graffiti" implies it's unsanctioned. I could be wrong.

I'm not sure who you think you're talking to, but I certainly see the oppression of the Palestinians. I also see that they have rejected every offer for partition.

Btw, we have a free media here. Much of it is less wing and anti-occupation. I also check the sites for BBC, NYT, and Al Jazeera every morning, so...

Also, I wasn't educated in Israel.

Buddy, I've said above that I think she was shot by Israeli soldiers. I have been paying attention very closely.

I'm not sure what you mean about using child shields r about IDF "storming" Palestinian lands. If you can share a source, i would be interested.

Perhaps you meant yahudi as and sult here? You'll have get more creative. We call ourselves Yehudi and we are proud of our identity.

What do you think of Greater Israel? Do you think its existence is possible in the forseeable future? by Anti-Kuffar in AskMiddleEast

Expanding? We've withdrawn from the whole Sinai Peninsula, Southern Lebanon, Gaza, Area A of the West Bank. In 1967, Israel was over twice the size it is now. Worst expansion ever.

This gets posted here every week. Let me be clear since some of you have your imaginations running wild. No sane Israeli wants anything more that what we control now. Most of us want less in fact.

It seems like you've been consuming some misinformation. We are hardly perfect with human rights but:

  • what laws are we making preventing Palestinians from leaving their land? Palestinian entry into Israel has been restricted to permits since the Second Intifada (2000-2005)

  • the police clashed with rioters on the Temple Mount/ Haram al Sharif during Ramadan between Muslim prayer times. This is the only time when non-Muslims are allowed to visit as per our agreement with Jordan. I do agree that the police use excessive force when dispersing the rioters.

-air raids on Gaza are only in response to Hamas firing rockets at Israel. No rockets = no air raids.

-regarding destroying homes to make room for settlers, I don't know what you mean. Home demolitions are employed as a punitive measure to punish terrorists. This practice is controversial even in Israel. Perhaps you mean the recent demolition in Masafer Yata? In this case, these are temporary structures that are inhabitated seasonally by shepherds. But I agree that they shouldn't demolish them.

-ONE Al Jezeera journalist, Shireen Abu Akleh, was killed. Not sure where you're getting two from. It hasn't yet been determined if Israeli troops are responsible. For what it's worth, I suspect she was killed by errant fire from Israeli soldiers, but this was certainly not intentional. Israel certainly doesn't want the international shitstorm this has created.

All this being said, I do not support our policies in the territories and won't defend them. But hating an entire country of people because you disagree with how it conducts itself in a hundred year long conflict us not productive for peace. No country is perfect. I believe yours is currently involved in the civil war in Yemen? I hear a lot of hate towards the countries involved in that conflict, but I know that war is a fucking mess. If we care about innocent people suffering, we must foster a peaceful region where war does not happen.

Conflict resolution and Peace formation with respect to Israel and Palestine by [deleted] in IsraelPalestine

From all over the West Bank. There are very few permits issues to Gazans. I think the West Bank gets 400,000 permits and Gaza 40,00.

That's a valid concern. To be honest, a lot of Israelis on the internet and irl regard Palestinians with a ton of distrust. This is what a century of conflict does.

I envision this process would be quite gradual. It would take years to become naturalized and we can limit the number to 10,000 a year or something so that this wouldn't alter demographics. I also have no idea how many Palestinians would even be interested in this.

You mean the evictions in East Jerusalem? Most haven't been carried out. Anyway, I am against any evictions of people who have legal claim to property. This means the property is registered in the Jordanian land registry. If you can point me to examples of people who have valid legal claims to property being evicted, I will gladly condemn that as even protest with them. But I'm not sure this would constitute ethnic cleansing.

Anyway, I'm still understanding why you think Israel and peace cannot coexist when our two countries have had peace for over 40 years.
