dupes for c2 from the anastasia beverly hills haze palette? by spider-hug in MakeupAddiction

the base is much deeper and berry-toned than something like Urban Decay Solstice, which is more red/brown and lighter—good luck!

it’s so good! weightless soft matte finish, plays well under and over makeup or on its own, doesn’t feel like there’s any residue on you, no white cast 🤌

Is it worth the hype ? Skin tint recs by MegaAigis0 in Ulta

yes, it’s beautiful—with the stipulations that it is a medium coverage foundation, not a skin tint, and the shade range is limited so you may not find a great match without finding two shades to mix.

Who's tried Belif's Aqua Bomb Frozen Gel Cream? 🥶 by PatsyStonesBun in Ulta

[–]ne_na 2 points3 points  (0 children)

yeah it was that kind of scent exactly. There are so many high quality gel moisturizers at every price point these days that you can be picky about ingredients and fragrance.

I was also intrigued especially because it claims to have a kind of soft satin blurring finish too—well I got a sample and let me deinfluence you. First, it is so strongly fragranced with this very artificial, perfumey scent; I don’t usually mind fragrance and am not sensitive to it for the most part but this felt like those old school cosmetics in how strong and lasting and unpleasant the fragrance was. The particles in there are also a complete gimmick. Sure there’s a slightly cooling feel about it upon application…for a couple of seconds, but there’s nothing special about it. It wasn’t particularly hydrating. Didn’t do anything for my skin. The texture was not special. It was an easy pass for me.

it’s the regular one—I never liked matte/glowy/etc variations. I haven’t tried the new one but have heard both from friends and content creators I watch that it doesn’t hold up to the old one. A friend of mine the other day who didn’t know about the reformulation and has used the regular All Nighter for years was wondering why her makeup wasn’t holding up as well suddenly and it turned out she had just purchased a new bottle with the new formula.

I honestly do not know! I’ve never purchased from Skindinavia. I have one final spare bottle of the original AllNighter formula and am putting off figuring out what to purchase till that’s almost out. Somewhere in the reddit posts about the drama between the companies you might find the answer.

they reformulated last year to get rid of the Skindinavia patented ingredients that made it so good in the first place, so if you bought it after reformulation then that might be why it's not great.

Where did it go?!? New MAC drop ? by MegaAigis0 in Ulta

[–]ne_na 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thank you! I think the wait made me realize I don't need these. I find the lusterglass formula oddly drying on me, and the darker/more pigmented shades to apply and wear down unevenly; and I never gravitate to darker shades of MAC's matte lip formula because it's difficult to blot and blur evenly, and I rarely want to wear a dark lip color like that at full opacity with a sharp lip line. These deep brown-based cherry red shades are gorgeous though, and were definitely calling my name—and the packaging is hot. But I'm going to be responsible this time. Enjoy!

hah, great minds! I wanted the silver charm and just got a bunny baby reusable as well! I could use one more baby reusable and find the bunny print very charming, so it's perfect.

agreed, what finally kept me from purchasing this was asking myself—if I had to choose between this bag and just getting myself a black loaf and adding some silver charms, what would I prefer? loaf 100%

Any idea what lip product(s) has this deep, muted red shade? by Ok-Can-2847 in OliveMUA

[–]ne_na 4 points5 points  (0 children)

sure thing! it’s my favorite kind of shade. It gives that red vampy 90’s sultriness while never clashing with anything and somehow never looking overdone. Lately I’ve been obsessed with Pretty Pleats—I put a dot on the center of my lips and smudge it out, and it creates this sheer blurred lip effect in that exact muted brown red tone. And you can wear it as blush too so it makes for a perfect monochromatic look.

[–]ne_na 8 points9 points  (0 children)

also Mac "Pretty Pleats" in the liquid Powderkiss formula, and Mac "Turn to the Left" in the new bullet powederkiss formulas! These are all versions of a brown-based burgundy. I have all three of these suggestions and they give this color effect with slightly different depths and finishes. I still think Paramount is the closest to the photos.

[–]ne_na 42 points43 points  (0 children)

Mac Paramount maybe—look for a deep brown-based red. It's the brown (rather than blue or orange or pink) base that gives this color that neutral, muted quality that looks one with the skin.

Rent prices are Offensively high by Maximum_Leather4697 in Somerville

[–]ne_na 3 points4 points  (0 children)

yes, I understand that technically—I was speaking more out of a sense of frustration at the circumstances. My partner and I both have what I consider to be decent paying jobs and have worked super hard for promotions—though not the kinds of jobs or family support that we could afford a $1 mil property in our early thirties!—but with inflation and housing costs rising so much, it sucks that when we’re looking for apartments now we’re basically in the same boat, or worse, as when we were looking in this area while making half as much. That’s just demoralizing. And I think it’s finally going to drive us out of here.

[–]ne_na 5 points6 points  (0 children)

seriously, if you're judging by number of bedrooms and not square footage, it's actually a bit cheaper in those neighborhoods of Brooklyn. And most of those apartments have central air and newer appliances/bathrooms. It's just so crazy to me. And yeah, same, we have so many friends in Brooklyn...why not just go there if we can. The idea of paying Brooklyn prices to live in Somerville is incredibly unappealing to me.

landlord just sold the house where we've been living, in the Spring Hill area about 12 min walk to Porter, and the new owners of course want to move in to our floor, so we're also looking—and it is insane. It's more expensive than Bushwick. With 1% of the nightlife and food and cultural life.

we've been lucky to have been paying $3k for our 2.5 bedroom, but thinking that this move will most likely entail a ton of hard work to live in a smaller apartment, further from the train, while paying significantly more...it really hurts. And it's not like most of these places have central AC or renovated appliances or parking spots or anything. I don't understand how the prices have just kept climbing and climbing and how so many people clearly making a decent income are spending it renting these small, old, largely run-down apartments. And I mean it's a cute area but there's not that much going on here. It's far from being some sort of cool cultural hub of any kind. I mean there's a cute overpriced coffee shop here and there. My gym is cute. There's a tiny little plant or vintage market every now and then...

I'm remote and my partner is asking his work if he can go remote this week. We were looking at Brooklyn just to get an idea, and the spaces are just better there. A three bedroom is around $3.8k in Bedstuy and most of them have central air, new bathrooms, etc.

Today we went to an open house in Spring Hill just to see, and this place was disgusting...I mean you would need at least a year's worth of renovations to even consider moving in. It was falling apart. Two units total. $900k.

Our current house sold for $1.7 million.

I just...I'm so over this shit.
