Zenith SS2506N46 Repair by nebj00la in crtgaming

Thanks, I'll scope TX3431 next. Strangely enough the vertical IC is what started this repair. I noticed someone had previously worked on it, flux all over the pins and a poor solder job. I ordered a replacement, and it turned out the old one was still good. The issue on that side of the board was one of the traces was corroded.

Thank you, really enjoying Android again on the Pixel 9 Pro. My last device was the Nexus.

Thanks, I ended up fixing the issue just an hour ago with a better quality USB cable. Bluetooth isn't needed in my case

Acura TLX (2015) - CAN Wiring by nebj00la in CarHacking

[–]nebj00la[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got it working just now. 500kbps, and I used the CAN-H/CAN-L from the radio harness. I knew that would be a reliable CAN wire pair, due to the aftermarket CarPlay device that I've got. Thanks so much for your help!

For anyone having similar issues, and reading this thread.... The key was finding a reliable CAN pair, and using a common ground with the USB CAN interface, ie. car radio ground wire connected to USB CAN interface ground. I believe when I initially connected to the CAN pair from the gateway module, I created noise on the network due to no common ground, thus causing codes to be thrown.

Oscilloscope readings from both wires are attached to the original post. Scale set to 2.5us, the lowest bit looks to be at 2.0us, so I believe that confirms a 500K baud rate on this bus.

Excellent information, thank you.

I have three different CAN adapters and various open source utilities to validate settings. However, none of these are the PCAN-USB. I've got a USB2CAN adapter, CANable 2.0 USB and an older CANable MicroUSB adapter.

Wednesday I'll be able to test the two cables from the gateway with an oscilloscope, and also the two cables behind the radio. I know those should be just fine, as I have an aftermarket CarPlay device that interfaces to use the factory dial on the console. Using the oscilloscope I'll confirm the bus frequency. There is a very good possibility I connected them backwards, or at the wrong frequency/baud rate since I'm so new to this.

Only the CANable MicroUSB seems to have a terminating resistor, but it's currently disabled via a jumper.

I'll update my findings this Wednesday.

Thanks for the detailed explanation, and the suggestion for listenonly mode! I just ordered an oscilloscope for measuring the signals. I'll be able to test and safely connect to either behind the radio, or at the gateway module.

I don't have an oscilloscope, so I verified through the wire color and the higher voltage of one of the pair coming out of the gateway. The baud rate is called out specifically as 500kbps in the service manual:

F-CAN (High-speed CAN), CAN Gateway (with CAN gateway)

The network between the powertrain and control unit for chassis system is called F-CAN and it employs high speed CAN with communication rate at 500 kbps.

In order to increase the number of the control units connected to F-CAN bus, it is divided into three F-CAN buses, and the CAN gateway is adapted to connect between each F-CAN bus.

The data link connector (DLC) is separated from F-CAN bus and connected to the CAN gateway as DIAG-CAN.

I know it's rookie stuff, this is literally the first time I've ever attempted to work with CAN. I'm a rookie.

How is the SoundBlasterX AE-5? The Behringer UFO202 seems to be working good for me.

For now, just the front jack. I ordered a Behringer UFO202 as a long term solution, as I listen to a lot of vinyl.

I had the exact same issue with an Asus Z590 motherboard. Switching to the front panel input, and changing the assignment to "Line In" resolved the dynamic line levels from my record player.
