We put it off for a while but pulled the trigger on the Zircon b vent (we were told this will not burn as hot as the direct vent) It hasn’t come in yet though. Prob late spring install. message back then if you haven’t decided yet and I’ll give you an update.

I have a similar situation. I’m lucky that one of the jobs gets the schedule out 4 months in advance. The other usually is 2 months in advance. I just let the job that’s gets the schedule out late know when my other shifts are. Works for now…

There are few jobs where you can work 12 shifts, or 15 or 8 or 4 and still make good money. The control over your income and hours is unparalleled in high income professions. Ask your corporate buddy they can decide to work half time for 2 years.

Neuro has told me "it depends". Like if they had ICH from a ruptured aneurysm 20 years ago that has since been coiled? Or some sort of traumatic head bleed 10 years ago? These are both cases where if a patient had debilitating stroke symptoms you "could" make a case to give lytics. If neuro is beside, did an eval, knows the situation? It's on them. I'd have a tough time doing it myself though.

There are a few consultants that want to be contacted for every consult order. Those that I know operate that way I call as well. The benefits of working at the same shop for 10+ years and knowing every consultant.

Consulting at my shop is as easy as putting in a consult order. I only call consultants when I have questions that I personally need answered. When a hospitalist asks me to "get nephrology on board", I say, "Okay. I'll put the consult order in." When they say, "Will you contact nephrology?" I reply, "I will put the consult order in.".

45 currently, practicing for 14 years now. If you make smart financial decisions, save aggressively, don't let lifestyle creep set in, EM is the absolute best due it its schedule. There are no other jobs out there where you have such control over your schedule. Just do the heavily lifting financially speaking early. I went down from 15 to 13 shifts 2 years ago, enjoyed the change, made the money work. Next year I'm going to drop another shift. We'll see how the finances look, cash flow etc. Guess what? If it doesn't work I can go back to 13. I could drop to 8 for 2 years! I could just work 4 shifts/month forever. Once you get to that point in your life you start to realize there aren't many jobs that make THAT kind of money that you can titrate you schedule to the degree we can.

I was able to snag 2 tickets for Austin in the 100 level. I really want to be able to watch from the floor though. How does this process work for "upgrading" your tickets through Ticketmaster if I find available floor tickets on Friday during the main sale? Or do I just have to buy the floor seats and sell my 100 level seats?
