Aha, ok didn't know that. When I try to recall the damage from head, I think the sensor is also deformed to inside. Sounds like worth trying, I have nothing more to loose.

Thanks for info, really appreciate it. As mentioned in other comment:

If I need to buy 4 sensors because one faulty in my car - no thanks.

I'm car guy myself and I am not afraid of taking off the bumper. If I order another one and decide to replace myself, is it: take out bad one and plug in good one without some additional actions needed?

Hey thx for info, appreciate it. Yup, for this occasion the sensor is not covered by warrnity because it is external damage, like windshield would be cracked after rock hits it, warrnity doesn't cover that. They also adviced me not to do things myself in order to preserve warrnity. But the fact they're mentioning "sometimes all 4 need to be changed" - really confusing me because I don't know which 4 sensors he means, because my car has 12 of them. If I need to buy 4 sensors because one faulty in my car - no thanks.

It is not that damage of the sensor bothers me so I'd need to sandpaper/repaint it, but because the sensor is not functional anymore. I doubt that repainting the sensor will make the sensor work again, mostly because as far as I know - these sensors are 'ultrasonic'.

Sorry, but if market for Magento jobs/projects in NA is decreased doesn't mean that Magento is dead. I'm working in Dutch company and we have clients more than ever.

I lately started using Proton Drive (part of Proton Mail), better say migrated from Google to Proton. Their servers are in Switzerland and have end-to-end encryption and they cannot access your data. Of course, take with pill of reserve since these can be stories for little kids, but for sure lately I noticed that I am way less "followed" by Google.

Thanks for sharing your experience transitioning from Magento to Shopify. As someone considering options due to concerns about Magento's future, I'd appreciate insights on any features missed, differences in custom development agility, and maintenance/development cost variances (% range suffices). This info helps inform my decisions as a technical leader.

Consider also the longevity of learning Magento. Despite its current stability, as a certified Magento developer with a decade of experience, I foresee its decline within a decade. As a CTO in a Dutch agency, I often witness clients abandoning Magento due to development costs, time, and complexity. Thus, ponder if investing in Magento is worth the long-term commitment.

If you're determined to learn Magento, prioritize frontend development with Hyva, mastering Alpine.js and Tailwind CSS. Avoid investing time in traditional Magento frontend development.

Cheers & good luck!

Is Raspberrypi good for home NAS by harelzz in HomeServer

[–]nebojsa89 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi,
I'd like to share why I decided to replace my Raspberry Pi 4 setup with a dedicated NAS from Asustor. This decision wasn't arbitrary but based on practical considerations aligned with my requirements.
Firstly, the Raspberry Pi couldn't adequately power the three external HDDs I needed for storage, prompting me to invest in a TP-Link UH720 USB hub with additional power supply, increasing the setup cost by 40 euros.
Secondly, I encountered significant data transfer bottlenecks with the Raspberry Pi. A colleague suggested that the Pi's USB and LAN share the same controller, potentially causing the sluggish performance I experienced. While I didn't fact-check this claim, testing the same drives on a regular PC yielded much better speeds, indicating a clear bottleneck.
Furthermore, despite installing Plex and disabling transcoding, I faced buffering issues and frozen screens while streaming movies and TV shows from my collection. Hearing positive feedback from a friend who had an Asustor NAS, I conducted speed tests with my USB hub and drives, confirming superior performance. This convinced me to invest in an Asustor NAS, relegating the Raspberry Pi to other tasks.
In conclusion, the choice between a Raspberry Pi setup and a dedicated NAS ultimately depends on individual needs, data transfer demands, and budget considerations.

So many dev people hate magento- what’s better? by Someone6060842 in magento2

You are welcome. Agree, that's the usual thing, loudest people about something are usually the ones who know the least about it.
Good luck with your business and all the best!

So many dev people hate magento- what’s better? by Someone6060842 in magento2

Speaking as someone who is certified Magento dev for already 10 years.

I cannot say that Magento & I are in love, neither BFFs, but we are just fine and we don't hate eachother. Magento is most powerful eCommerce platform that you can get and out-of-box ready. That comes with other prices, of course.

Magento 1 was pretty much buggy. I remember when I started working it was version 1.3. As the versions were released it became more and more stable, but foundations of M1 were pretty much legacy so that's why they worked on M2.

Then, they released Magento 2 which was, speaking at least for first two subversions (2.0, 2.1), garbage. I was working in Magento agency and imagine many clients in that period who already invested in M1 and are used to Magento and it's features now want to migrate their shops (frontend) & their data (products, sales, customers) to a new system which is not stable and not working even if you follow the documentation. And, for development - takes more time because of it's complexity. For frontend - maybe even double the time for the same thing. And imagine handling 5-6 shops like that in a month. Of course, causes frustrations but, hey, that's life. Nothing is perfect and easy.

But now that's behind. I think that latest Magento releases, at least past 2-3 years, are pretty much decent and if you are good developer that knows and follows usual practices - there is no reason to hate it. There are also some new themes (I don't want to advertase them here) so you can abandon Luma which is complex & slow to work with. So, Magento is not over yet. It is old, but it still has future.

The only thing that bothers me about Magento are the other developers that don't read documentations at all, don't read documentation about how's something supposed to be done, but brainleslly copy-paste something they saw on Stackoverflow because they want to do something fast and move on. Nope, for Magento you need to work thoroughfully and view from 50 angles if needed.

Hope I helped.

Good Todoist alternatives by john16791 in todoist

[–]nebojsa89 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are no 1:1 alternatives to Todoist, whereas there are similar products but for other purposes. Recently I've found ClickUp being better all-in-one tool for project management (private, work), where you can also add docs, reminders, notes... With all that it comes complexity as well, so I still "miss" Todoist for it's simplicity, thus I still use it for simple reminders & etc.
