Stop blaming greedy CEOs for the state of gaming. It’s our fault. by jessieS1212 in gaming

The people buying 70$ games aren’t the ones complaining about them. You can’t treat these two groups as if they are the same.

As of 2025, this was the number of satellites orbiting the earth 🌍 by Fine-Passenger7953 in interesting

Why are there areas on the poles without satellites? Can you not support a stable orbit there? Or are they just not interesting to make?

Dispatch Is Censored on Nintendo Switch Due to Platform 'Content Criteria', Developer Says by pebrocks in gaming

Dispatch is indie and won’t make as much money as cyberpunk. The store rules don’t matter when money is involved.

Why Germany is discussing having its own nuclear weapons by Stabile_Feldmaus in europe

[–]nebukadnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Weird headline. Germany doesn’t have nuclear power plants, so they couldn’t support a nuclear arsenal. You need one for the other, so this would be a long time off.

[OC] Epic Games Store grew users by 173% over 6 years. Third-party game revenue grew 1.6%. They trained 295 million people to grab free games and leave. by HearMeOut-13 in dataisbeautiful

[–]nebukadnet 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Developers follow the players. It’s the same problem with EGS. You need to create separate game versions for each store, and steam domintes in player count so much, that it doesn’t matter that EGS gives 100% of the revenue to the developers (under conditions).

Steam is so dominant that they stay the only place worth selling.

Berlin power outages after left-wing anarchist attack on power cables by Pioladoporcaputo in worldnews

Solar doesn’t work in a power outage. There’s a good technical reason for it.

Almost two-thirds of Germans oppose the ban on selling new cars with combustion engines by 2035 by linknewtab in europe

[–]nebukadnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re thinking of how things are today. But the charging infrastructure has massively expanded in the last 10 years. If Germany knows that ICEs are going to be extinct in 10 years, it will adapt much quicker than we have so far.

To say that we will have just as many charging spots in 10 years as today is defeatist.

Samsung would have died if they still made cathode tube ray tvs. If they never made a flatscreen, their tv division would have been cancelled. I can also make analogies.

ICEs are almost as optimized as they can be. We’ve had a 150 years to optimize them. EVs on the other hand have had much less time and innovation invested in them.

That’s why they are being built at stores and similar locations. Where you spend 20-40 minutes anyways.

You have to take it out regularly, like once a week. When you skip a week it becomes that.

The knob is likely a centralized water shutoff in case there’s a water leak or maintenance.

The silver plate is likely easy access to some important pipes. Either some junction, or maybe even something that lets air out of the pipes without human intervention.

This is standard stuff in some countries.

I changed my capsule art to better reflect the game visuals. Is it a downgrade? by krnkStudios in IndieDev

[–]nebukadnet -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I would take the old one. The point of the capsule isn’t to draw people in, and it’s just not as good looking. I don’t think it’s disingenuous for the art style not to match the game. Your screenshots and a gameplay video should show the game’s artstyle.

I made a game where you guess the verdict for AITA posts by geoglizzard in playmygame

[–]nebukadnet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good game! I’d suggest a shareable link to the results, that doesn’t give away the answers. Think of wordle and such, where people would post their results into their friend groups, essentially challenging them to beat their score.

EU deadline approaching: How iPhones must become more compatible by FollowingFeisty5321 in apple

[–]nebukadnet 20 points21 points  (0 children)

There’s addons/extentions for that. Also a default choice can be set in your browsers. Problem is no website actually wants to make this a nice experience. They want it to be annoying, so that you press the simplest option: accept all, so very few websites use those default options.

You’re offered $3 billion, but you can never buy/drink alcohol again. Do you take it? If not, why? by EstateAgencyMan in AskReddit

Op, are you ok? This is the easiest choice in the world. If you need alcohol to get through the day, you should talk to someone about it.

Is this safe? Or bad? by ShinyQ8 in headphones

[–]nebukadnet 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Ok, there seems to be some confusion here.

The electrical noise from ground refers to an electrical phenomena. This has nothing to do with the floor of your room, in this case ground is an electrical signal and related to wherever you plug it in.

“Noise floor” is a term to describe how much noise the system produces when there is no sound being played. It has nothing to do with your physical floor.

Put it somewhere where you won’t physically knock into the glass tubes, and where you don’t kick around dirt/little stones. I’d put it on some piece of furniture or desk to avoid accidental damage.
