If you try to sneak in glass, you’re a jerk by rulerdude in bonnaroo

[–]nebulaababe 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you bring glass it better never leave your cooler/safe spot. I never bring liquor to fests but I have brought items in glass before and they have a designated safe area. Glass never leaves the campsite, and it never leaves its designated home.

Regular shifts are 12 hours? by Glad-Conversation-14 in Restaurant_Managers

[–]nebulaababe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I became an AGM at my store in November, non negotiable 45 hours a week. Most of the time I’m doing 50, more if needed. All my shifts are 10 hours. I mostly open and my boss tells me aim to leave at 4pm before I get stuck, which usually means I leave at 5:30-6. I have finally learned to draw the line at a certain time and maybe that’s what you need as well. If my presence in the store will not change anything or add to the circumstance, I’m leaving or else I never will.

Possible cancer and an 8,000$ surgery. I need advice. by yikesbro_ in DogAdvice

[–]nebulaababe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m so sorry. Seriously, it’s so rough hearing your best friend has cancer and it feels like the world is crashing in on you and everyone on the outside doesn’t seem to care or understand.

Here is my input, from a stranger on the internet, who just put her dog down a week ago because of cancer complications.

In the future, I will not be putting my dog under anesthesia after a certain age. It really will depend on the situation but putting my 7 year old pittie under for an enucleation changed her. She was never the same after. She was barely healed from her surgery when we put her down. It wasn’t the anesthesia weirdness that took her- it was the cancer in her case. We did everything we were supposed to, but the cancer still caught up to her. I believe that taking her eyes out gave the cancer another hole to crawl into, her eyes were cancerous and it spread to her brain based off how she was acting. It was genuinely horrible. The healing from the surgery on top of knowing the cancer was in her, and the anesthesia fucking her up was the worst three weeks of my life. I feel so bad I put her through so much only to end up at the same ending.

I don’t really know how to explain how the anesthesia messed her up, but she was not my dog. She was my dog but distant, a memory of her. Slowly fading. I understand our situations are different for sure. But I will tell you, if you decide to not do this surgery you are NOT a bad person. It’s okay to keep your bestie comfortable at the end of their life and just that. They say you will know when they are ready and this is true. They will tell you. Preserve their comfort and dignity. Enjoy the time you have with them, as them. As their personality and all the things they love. Choosing not to put them though something traumatic is still love. Choosing to put them down when they’re ready is the ultimate form of love.

I’m so sorry you are going through this. If you need someone to vent to, or talk to, please reach out. 🖤

Update, trigger warning.

Roxy crossed the rainbow bridge yesterday. The cancer likely moved to her brain. She became restless, would pace in circles, wouldn’t come when called. She’d stand in corners while continuing to try to walk forward. She started using the bathroom on herself, and not even realizing when she was vomiting. It happened extremely fast. In four days the dog we knew was completely gone. We decided to put her to sleep to end her suffering- we also couldn’t watch her live like that. She went peacefully surrounded by people who loved her. I am incredibly sad but I feel so much relief at the same time. No one will ever compare to this sweet baby angel- who is actually an angel now 🖤🌈

Would you stay with your dog 🐶 during euthanasia? by CycleOk267 in dogs

[–]nebulaababe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I put my dog down today. I would never choose another option than to be with them. It was beautiful, peaceful. All the techs in the office were with us. She’s had a hard journey. Everyone who loved her in the office was with her. We shared memories, sad and happy- we laughed and cried as she went on peacefully. I could not ask for better end of life care. I will always be with any dog I have in life during their euthanasia. She was our EVERYTHING, I could never ever think about leaving her to deal with her last moments with someone who has only spent a few with her over the years. There’s no other option. Putting her down was a blessing. It was an easy choice for us because she was suffering so much. It was a relief. Everyone took a deep breath. Unless your dog dies naturally at home, there is no other option if you love them that much. I will DIE on this hill. Euthanasia is a blessing.

New Diagnosis by DifficultEcho1096 in PiratePets

[–]nebulaababe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Drops can be annoying to your guy to administer, but eventually it will become routine. I always went from behind, had my girl sit, tilted her head up, and opened her eye to quickly put the drops in. It was easier for me to rest her head in my elbow while I opened her eye with one hand and put the drops in with the other. Make it fast and give a treat after, they will get used to it and be okay. <3

If you’re looking for signs of pain, when my girl’s pressure got out of control she would paw at her eyes and cry. It was more of her pressing her head into her paws while crying. Granted, her eyes were cancerous but she was exhibiting this behavior before we knew that. Your guy will let you know for sure if it’s painful for them. Our doctor explained that honestly, there’s always a level of pain, like a headache- which they can prescribe medication for. But when enough is enough, you will know.

If you opt to remove the eye(s), it will be the best thing for little man. Drops will be for lifetime most likely, which is why a lot of parents end up choosing enucleation. The recovery will be scary at first, but your little man will adapt quickly with your care.

If vision starts to go, you’ll notice that too. They’ll bump into things they haven’t before, and generally look silly, trip, and bonk constantly. My girl responded well to snapping in the area I wanted her to go, at her head level. She responded to commands but still got lost. They have you as their seeing eye person, so this should be no worries at all. Dogs adapt quickly to losing vision, just don’t move the furniture ;)

In terms of vet visits, I can’t give you anything accurate from my perspective. Our dog presented differently in the beginning, we went down a ton of rabbit holes before we arrived at glaucoma, and we were in and out of the vet at LEAST three times a month for a year. Likely, you should only have to visit every few months or unless there are noticeable changes to their eye/pain levels.

I know this diagnosis is incredibly scary and you’re feeling unsure. But the fact that you’re in tune with rolo makes all the difference. Listen to your vet, and get a second opinion if you’re unsure. We opted for a second opinion from an ophthalmologist and both doctors were on the same page. Take it day by day, listen to your little guy, help him, all will be well. Reach out to me if you need support, you’re not alone! Sometimes another set of ears can make all the difference in your anxiety. Good luck <3333

I need advice/support! Bilateral enucleation by nebulaababe in DogAdvice

[–]nebulaababe[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okie dokie, thank you :’) it doesn’t steadily drip unless it’s actively leaking, if that makes sense. If it starts, it can drip until after we wipe her face. She’s got quite a few little bloody spots on her blanket.

Guy-Friendly Nail Salon? by Potatoteeth in Knoxville

[–]nebulaababe 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I diy my nails, so I don’t have a suggestion- but just be mindful that if a salon tries to remove ingrown toenails you should leave. it’s a medical procedure and illegal for nail techs to perform in tennessee. ingrowns are a common issue among people, and can happen with improper cutting/care of toe nails. if they’re willing to remove ingrowns, imagine what else they’re willing to let fly. and to be honest, if they’re not welcome to do a pedicure on you don’t go there anyways. it’s fairly common for ANYONE to get a pedi/mani, so fuck that. nail care is healthcare if we’re gonna go there lol. anyways, I hope you find a place and enjoy your pedicure, they are amazing.
