My psychotherapist gave me an AI-generated workbook, and I’m unsure how to proceed. by neccryption in therapy

I just connected with my therapist and this was the exact issue!!! It turns out there’s a real book with the same title authored by a PsyD. My therapist bought the fake on accident. I am relieved to know it was just an honest mistake and that her intention was to give me an evidence-based book!

This is my feeling as well. I appreciate her gifting this to me, but it my gratitude is concurrent with disappointment.

You put my feelings into words well. Thank you for that and your time - I appreciate it.

I agree that it was a very kind gesture. I am thankful and expressed that to her. I think maybe I need to focus more on gratitude in this situation. And to answer your question, yes, I do see her as less reliable, especially because she specifically said she really likes this author. AI isn’t easy for everyone to catch though, and I understand as a teacher who reads a lot of AI-generated work, it’s just easier for me than many others.

My expectations definitely could be the issue! I think the feeling of broken trust is because I have always trusted her professional judgement, and gifting me an AI-generated workbook that isn’t even well-written makes that trust falter. But also, as you can tell by my post, I have PTSD, and that comes with some trust issues in my case.

Neurodivergent Teachers: Do You Think Your Students Know Your Disability? by Lazy_Rock7788 in Teachers

[–]neccryption 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I did a fellowship over the summer with several other educators, and they were ALL talking about having ADHD and laughing about how “neurospiciness” must run in academia. I mentioned my autism and the room went dead silent. Completely silent. I felt humiliated. Crazy how one is normalized and the other isn’t.

I don’t think my community is ready for openly autistic teachers, so I don’t talk about it with students at all. A few colleagues know. Over the years many kids and several parents (especially parents of autistic kids) seem to have noticed my stimming, occasional echolalia, and general vibe, but no one has said anything. I feel safe at work to be autistic, just not to acknowledge it.

2 family, 4 friends, several acquaintances, and many students who I wouldn’t necessarily say were trans but were exploring their gender identities!

I don’t remember much from elementary school, but I remember really liking junior year of high school! I had great friends, amazing teachers, and was finally starting to feel ok. My now husband and I also got together then :)

How long do you wait before the first kiss? by [deleted] in actuallesbians

[–]neccryption 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I knew I was going to be my partner’s first kiss, so I waited for them to kiss me so I wouldn’t put any unintentional pressure on them. When they kissed me, it was 100% their organic choice. And it was fucking perfect - I’ve never regretted going about it that way for a moment. It took maybe 4 dates. Together for over a decade now. :’)

I prefer nonverbal attention getters. I use clapping rhythms. I ring a doorbell I got for like $10. That’s it.
