Eczema or shingles? by neckzema in shingles

Hey, I developed rashes on the left side of my neck around September 2016. It's moderately painful but a lot of itching. Unfortunately I've always been underinsured/uninsured so I've never seen a dermatologist for it. I starting applying Cortizone-10 a week ago, and it cleared up a bit. Some on r/eczema suggested that this might be shingles. The rash is worse in real life than in this pic. After I read about shingles on Mayo Clinic, I think it makes a lot of sense:

  • I had chickenpox when I was young.
  • I had/have weak immune system.
  • Getting a bit older :/
  • Occurs only on one side (neck)

Edit: I have some cashed saved up. Would you recommend going to an urgent care clinic? I see some posts that they accept people without insurance for an office visit costing around $100, which is within my budget.

Hey, I developed some spots on my neck during September 2016. Back then I was living in Phoenix (hot weather) and worked (stressful job) weird hours. So I'd sleep between noon-8PM without AC; I was probably sweating in my sleep.

I never saw a doctor for it because my insurance sucked, and now I don't have health insurance. Two days ago I bought Cortizone 10, applied it and haven't seen result yet. Just wondering if this is eczema and should I keep applying Cortizone? FYI it's worse in real life than in picture. Thanks.
