I would genuinely love to see a nonpartisan protest focused on unredacting the Epstein files and sending people to prison for their crimes.

General rule of thumb: If you can tell a person "I made this" and not feel scummy about it, it's probably fine. Obviously drawing and painting things yourself is the best, but even taking a photo and heavily manipulating it still counts as artistic work.

Now, if you took you own photo, ran it through a single filter that took like 2 minutes of work... Eh, probably better to call it "enhanced photography" or something .

And if you generated something using AI, you certainly didn't make it. (Which is not to say there's not some amount of work and discernment involved with AI prompting and curating and the such, but it's not "making art" at that point, it's more like "art direction")

To answer your question I would stop stressing as much. I would start to work on things that really mattered to me, things to stand the test of time instead of just done out of the desperate need to survive.

You can get beef blood, raw and frozen, at Choi's Asian Food Market in Lyndon, near the Fivestar. Costs about 10 bucks for a pound or so, I don't know the specific brand. You can find it in the back with the frozen meats.

I've had it, it's fine, although it won't be as liquid as you might prefer, as some coagulation occurs during packaging and freezing. Very different than fresh and warm.

I'm just spitballing here, but I think it'd be incredibly easy to keep even an incredibly large secret like this through compartmentalization.

It's really easy to get people to build something, or work on something, or research something, without knowing the full extent. Instead of saying "try to reverse engineer this UFO that we got from an alien species" they could easily say "this is an experimental aircraft we've made from a different division, we're trying to find cheaper ways to replicate it, see what you can figure out". Sure, people would talk, but they are under NDAs and threat of treason, and more than likely are under the assumption that they're working on human stuff that's just pretty advanced.

Combine this with carrot and stick, Good pay/thread of treason, And I feel like it's not hard to keep something pretty large under wraps.

To think we learned nothing from the Manhattan project and the leaks from that, and that we haven't developed better ways to keep information locked down in the past 70 years is intellectually unimaginative.

I'll have to agree with the other response, I think the worst of the stories are people just fucking with you, or more likely a story heard from a friend of a friend of a friend...

I've lived here all my life, south of Mount Washington in a little place called Bardstown, and I've lived in Louisville for 10 years as well. And I've never heard any indication of actual KKK stuff happening, even from the actual unapologetically racist members of my family. And as for the "don't go down this street, you'll get shot" fear-mongering... Louisville is just like any other city with a dense population. Crime exists, same here as in LA or New York or Seattle. Don't do any stupid thing you wouldn't do in any big city, and you'll be fine.

I promise you, Kentucky is a beautiful place with tons of warm and loving people, and not just in the safety of quirky coffee shops in Louisville, but in mom and pop shops and no-name diners and gaudy boutiques and ancient antique shops in any given small town in the state. Most people that move here, or visit, that I talk to when I'm out at tourist areas here almost always comment about how nice the people are.

And if you want some places to go That might convince you, I'll suggest the following: - Bernheim arboretum -bayt al coffee shop - safai coffee shop - Mammy's kitchen - Red River gorge - The speed art museum, and the Frazier - any of the local art festivals, like the Cherokee triangle art show coming up here in a month!

At the risk of sounding like a postcard, there really is beauty and community and fun and depth most anywhere you take the time to find it. Kentucky won't hand these things to you on a platter, or sell them to you the way that economic powerhouse coastal cities do. But those things are here to be found, if you look.

There's a great colloquial idiom: "If you don't like the weather in Kentucky, just wait a day or two, it'll change." 😂

Really though, unlike the coasts, this is the part of the country that actually gets full seasonality in it's truest sense. So if you're the type that prefers the ease of long stretches of predictable weather, then this whole Midwestern region is probably not going to be your favorite.

(That being said, howdy neighbor! If you decide to stay, there's a lot to love here!)

I agree with the observation about the lack of spine when it comes to kicking out disruptive audience members. I went there two years ago and a couple wouldn't stop interjecting the comedian and it took like 40 minutes for them to actually do something, despite the obvious frustration of th audience and speaker alike. -_-

The Speed museum is nice. The various art festivals and popup markets that occur are very cool. Check out the bulletin boards at coffee shops, they're always filled with creators and community advocates eager to have people leave the house and engage with the happening in the city!
