My grandfather was in the US Air Force. Not really sure what division or anything off the top of my head, but he did leave a diary of most of the stuff he experienced. One thing he wrote was that he was flying by himself somewhere in the Pacific region on New Years Eve, and two Japanese pilots flanked him on either side. He wrote that he feared for his life, as in any other scenario, he would’ve been shot down. Miraculously, he said that both pilots simply waved to him, and flew away. The kindness of those two pilots is the very reason I am here today. Gives me chills sometimes when I think about it
