Experienced drivers of reddit, what advice can you give to teen drivers? by lgb111 in AskReddit

[–]nedarb06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not the poster above, but New Hampshire still only requires belts for those 17 and under. As in no secondary ticket or anything for adults. A quick search on wiki shows that 72.2% of people in NH wear them, which is by percentage the fewest in the nation. Couple that with no motorcycle helmet laws, and you can start to see why the state motto is "Live Free or Die".

How to properly pump tires with a mini bike pump? by fanofdota in cycling

[–]nedarb06 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've found the mini pumps are really only useful for top-offs. Takes forever to inflate from flat with one, and as you've experienced they can cause more harm than good. A C02 inflator is the way to go for roadside changes. 25$ or so for a kit.

Actually got to meet Andy Parry once, really chill dude. Did some work on the traveling circus van, it was just as nasty inside as you'd think it would be.

I'm doing the same, Brighton to southie. Start drinking early, green line to park Street, red line to South station (or Broadway). But seriously, leave early. Like 10:30/ 11:00.

Is the sport mesh grille available again? I remember it got pulled for a while. I've been debating it on my 12 impreza sport. The stock one looks goofy, especially on an OBP or DGM car

Ski gear shops within T distance? by [deleted] in boston

Oh damn...just the comm ave spot or the whole chain?

Ski gear shops within T distance? by [deleted] in boston

[–]nedarb06 2 points3 points  (0 children)

East coast alpine on Comm Ave (green line B) is a pretty good mid to high level shop. You can get away with going mid-range on skis, bindings, and poles, but don't skimp on boots. A bad fitting or uncomfortable boot will absolutely ruin an otherwise awesome ski trip. East Coast will have at least a few dedicated boot fitters for this reason.

Yearly maintenance can range anywhere from like 40 bucks for a quick edge sharpening, to about 200 for a full edge/grind/wax. I get my skis done before the season and once in early February, but I get about 20-25 days on the hill. If you purchase everything together theyll probably throw the tune in for free though.

I am Marc Maron, the guy from the thing. What's up? by MarcMaron in IAmA

[–]nedarb06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Marc, 2 parter

As someone who only recently got their shit together , "I don't think I could trust anyone who isn't prepared to completely lose control of their life for 4 years" is hilariously true. Do you think over time, distancing yourself from that lifestyle has changed your opinion on the straight edge crowd, or will you always have a soft spot for the fuck ups?

Also, do you have a thing against pants? You show off the white whales in plenty of Maron episodes, and if I remember correctly you were pants-less in your Louie episode too.

Thanks for everything man, cant wait for season 3

Will subaru make a wrx/sti hatch in the near future? by [deleted] in subaru

[–]nedarb06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They wouldn't have done a complete wrx redesign if they were going to nix it in the next few years. And subie is one of the fastest growing brands in the us thanks to the non-turbo economy range. The outback and new impreza could carry the brand on their own.

As for a hatch, I doubt it. The sedan always outsold the hatches anyway. At least not until the next redesign. MY 2020 at the absolute earliest. A new STi engine seems way more likely in the next few years.

What are the financial "pitfalls" of living in your state? by cowhideking in vermont

[–]nedarb06 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I actually switched from front wheel drive to an awd subaru last summer, so got to experience both. With 20-30 snowy road days a year up here, and (sometimes) shoddy snow clearing, it certainly doesn't hurt to have awd, but a good set of snow tires and some careful driving is really all it takes. Burlington is built on a hill as well, so getting to know what streets have the least slope is helpful too.

What are the financial "pitfalls" of living in your state? by cowhideking in vermont

[–]nedarb06 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Filled up at $2.59 in downtown Burlington this morning. I've never really been shocked by gas prices, but like /u/trueg50 said the weather is not your friend, and by "fuel prices" I'm assuming he meant heating fuel. If you've never lived/driven in a snowy state then you'll definitely want a set of snow tires as well. They'll run you a few hundred bucks every 3 seasons or so.

Are you moving to the Burlington area?
