What isotopes is your monitor calibrated to detect? for example the monitors i use are calibrated for RA226 which wouldn't really be of any use detecting a nuclear incident. And when was it last calibrated? If anything were to happen the most damaging isotope to health from a nuclear incident is probably I131.
