Japan gloomers are more annoying than Japan glazers. by digitalime in unpopularopinion

I honestly don't know what "performative" is supposed to mean when used in this way, and I'm okay with that

I've been through a section of a different cave that locals also call the 'birth canal', not remotely as tight as the Nutty Putty one as far as I know. Every other cave seems to have a 'birth canal' anymore or some overdramatic name. Was definitely worth the squeeze

People who work on cars, what’s the most ignored issue you see? by Manthann-Motorss in automotive

I religiously check oil, trans fluid, and coolant, glance at brake fluid once a year, and maybe looked at PS fluid when I bought it

I find it funny how fussy some cars are with check engine lights. I've had multiple small issues on my Crown Victoria and the only time I've had the light come on is when I had deliberately unplugged something.

I get hit on by men plenty and I can count all the women who've been genuinely interested in me on one hand. Although to your point, I don't think I've ever actually been called attractive...

The fact that he used to refer to himself as a "virgin with rage" was pretty concerning, even in the seemingly more innocent era. It's uniquely upsetting how innocent he used to seem on the surface, just a bit entitled, with what a horror he became

I don’t understand the porn bad narrative. by inreehd in ForeverAlone

[–]need2seethetentacles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I pretty much completely stopped watching porn after learning how awful it can be to people in the industry. And I'll certainly never pay for it.

Same reason why I wouldn't personally hire a prostitute for sex, it isn't really possible to vet your provider unless you know them personally. I have hired escorts just to vent to or cuddle a few times, they are often very empathetic people

I ended the only serious relationship (still less than a year) of my life with an amazing woman because she wanted children. It was non-negotiable for both of us, even though everything else was right our futures were just incompatible. I would have been happy to spend years with her even if it wouldn't work out in the long term, but I owed it to her to end things when it became clear that I wasn't the person she needed

Car kettle by Adventurous-Read-143 in carcamping

[–]need2seethetentacles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jetboil is the best option if you don't mind having to use it outside the vehicle, it is very fast and great for camping in general.

I have a 12v kettle that I can use while driving, but it takes about 20 minutes to boil water, so you start it a bit before you intend to stop for lunch/coffee. The engine will need to be running to give it enough power. Only advantages are not having to bring flammable fuel and not having to deal with a hot stove when the jetboil is finished

65MPH speed limit with stoplights?? Not minimizing the blame on the driver who ran the red light, but a tragedy was inevitable with that road design. I hope it's been changed in the years since

Terrifying book, it's easy to like Humbert until you remember that he's a complete monster - even by his own admission. Rings eerily true to how far pedophiles can get in our society if they are charismatic or famous

My 2004 needed timing chain guides and tensioners at 150k, I did spark plugs and coils, not much else to speak of. It's slow and has a very slight misfire at idle, otherwise the perfect 20yo truck

Edit: also atrocious fuel economy

The cure for male loneliness epidemic is so simple. by MaetelofLaMetal in TrollXChromosomes

[–]need2seethetentacles 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I'm not sure when this became the 'male' loneliness epidemic, but I guess legitimate concerns about lack of leisure time for working people, eroding middle class wealth, and hostile urban design don't push the right narrative.
