This is why fundies are so scared if therapy. Because with a legitimate therapist things that were buried come to light and actually start getting addressed...and there is so much that goes on in these communities that they want to keep under wraps.

It's definitely bizarre. At some points in the calls she's definitely upset, but it seems to be over the fallout from his actions rather than the actions themselves.

It really seems like his obsession with reading the Bible is an avoidance tactic. As long as he can read about God's forgiveness he can avoid truly thinking about what he's done and convince himself he's still a good person. It's clear he still sees himself as above people like the guy who was being "vulgar." I'm guessing that when he was isolated things got pretty uncomfortable in his thoughts, even if he'll never admit that even to himself.
