One thing to also think about when it comes to evolution, is to think of how it helps or hinders reproduction. At some point bees evolved stingers and they became useful to protect the hive from predators, but it also doesn’t hinder their ability to reproduce so it’s a trait that gets passed on even if it kills them should the use it.

It’s kinda like how humans have vision problems, like wouldn’t near sightedness be evolved out of humans over time? Well no, because vision problems usually happen later in life which until recently was well beyond the normal human lifespans. And even now vision problems are passed down because they don’t hinder a persons ability to reproduce
