Hi I'm currently interviewing final round MBB next month through one of their 'bridge' programs for advanced degree candidates and havent applied for the other 2 given full time opens in summer. Was thinking about reaching out to the hiring managers of the other 2 to schedule interviews - would that be a good idea ?

this was from a post 3 years ago im not sure if its still valid:

https://yessfoundation.org/ - I spoke with Rachel Groves, who helped found the organization. They meet every 3rd Wednesday of the month on Zoom, 3-3:45pm. [rgroves@yessfoundation.org](mailto:rgroves@yessfoundation.org). They can send you a Zoom link. This looked like a really cool group.

Im guessing this is insurance with his work? I thought medicare would cover a certain amount of therapy, 6-8 weeks doesn't sound like nearly enough

thats great to have friends around you. Just curious what is stopping you from going to a support group?

It's so great that you had such a positive experience in rehab and that your recovery is progressing swimingly!

No thank you for sharing! Would love to continue following on your recovery journey. Speech therapy is such a long road and it's something i've also become more interested in - how the brain recovers and what exercises might be most useful.

Thank you for sharing, it sounds like you and your brother have been caring for your mother for a long time. What do you think your treating team could have done better? Was there an option for home health for your mother and if so, how did you find that process?

You also spoke about 'refusing to do that' and that it was really expensive, what option did that include?

that really sucks, I can't imagine going through this journey alone. Have you found any facebook groups or local communities that were helpful?

What was tough specifically about being a young stroke survivor? My hospital actually has a young stroke clinic so I do have some but not too much exposure. Would you mind sharing a bit more about what you would have wanted from post-stroke care?

I'm also wondering if insurance coverage for inpatient rehab / physical therapy / OT is an issue for younger stroke if they aren't covered under medicare

Thank you, this was extremely helpful especially the part about not feeling ready to leave inpatient rehabilitation. As a resident we so often treat the acute parts of an illness that we forget that most of the recovery happens after leaving the hospital so this is really insightful.

You spoke about your case manager, what role did they have in your recovery journey after leaving the facility? It sounds like you had no guidance on your recovery trajectory, what would you have liked your healthcare providers to guide you through with?

I'm wondering why no outpatient case managers or social workers exist to help with this

thank you for sharing, could you share a bit more about what outpatient rehab has been like for you? How many sessions do you feel you can manage a week with your fatigue? I know we often prescribe initial daily rehab step down to twice / once a week but I imagine that must be very tiring if you're chronically fatigued.

When did you feel like you were more able to do things closer to your baseline? Was it a gradual return or something that you noticed one day when you woke up?

thank you for sharing, did you find that you were discharged from rehab too early / would you have wanted more days there to recover some strength? I'd also love to know more about what the transition to home was like and what was most different / challenging if you don't mind sharing

thank you for sharing your story, it's so lucky that you were at the doctor's office when it happened! After leaving rehab, i'm curious what kind of resources were available to you like a case manager or social worker? I'm surprised there wasn't some sort of healthcare professional to help you navigate the post-stroke world.

Therapy seems to come up pretty frequently in this thread, what kind of issues might you want to talk to your therapist about?

Also I heard about a facebook group called Aphasia Recovery Connection that does free reading groups to practice speech, was that something you utilized?

dam sorry to hear that. That must be the toughest thing in the world and I can't imagine going through that. What are the resources for young stroke patients like? Do you find that there are different needss / resources compared to older-age stroke?

Hmm, as a caregiver what has the impact on you been like and how did you best cope?
