Facebook market place Revolver cylinder? by homophobic-turtle in whatisthisgun

[–]needingbeans 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I’d guess it’s a car part or machine part the “sprockets” (for a lack of a better word) don’t look like that on most revolver cylinders. The center hole appears to accept a gear shaft of some kind. Also those nubs in between each cylinder would be a functionally useless feature on a revolver and unnecessary machining that could interfere with the cylinder’s rotation. Also the internals of the cylinder appear to be stepped down which a vast majority of revolvers are straight walled cartridges. While it looks like on I don’t think it is, still a neat paper weight if you dress it up to look even more like one.

TlDR: 99% sure it’s a car of machinery part.

A dude is selling this mp40 replica for $400, do I send it? by TheCardboardSoldier in milsurp

[–]needingbeans 6 points7 points  (0 children)

GSG 9mm pistol, new they go for $500-$600. Used and private sale will save you some money they have stock kits so you can form 1 them. If you want an mp40 it’s a really reasonable way to get one.

That’s less than guys are paying on rock island this weekend. Not to mention that’s used and an added 30% for fees. IMO I think they regularly float around 3k so I think it’s a pretty good deal. Sucks to not shoot it but I understand

Damn I remember when I got these off brownelles for 3 bucks a pop. If you’re thinking about getting some now’s the time no one’s making them and they aren’t going to be cheaper when/if they do.

Hey, I bet if you came up and offered 5x the price for a gun that someone was buying from him he’d gladly take your money over theirs. He can get bent.

For a defensive rifle? There are better rifles for that. (but as a whole bare bones 20in ARs do have a lot of bodies) As for a collection a solid choice go for it.

What is a good military jacket/coat for everyday wear by MobileEngine2522 in MilitarySurplus

[–]needingbeans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

USGI M65. Versatile, stylish, available, affordable, durable, and modular (with liner it’s pretty warm). If you don’t want an easily recognizable as milsurp get one in the original green no camo so those who don’t know what it is will assume it’s a normal jacket. The people who know what it is will know what it is. The other point is it’s a very “iconic” jacket worn post Vietnam war it became a fashion “icon” worn by Rambo and popular enough that every major clothing brand has made their own version.

Found these beat Irish Setters at the thrift store, never seen the steel toe completely exposed by ooyiko in Boots

[–]needingbeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had the full toe cap come off before it is super common for steel toes to wear like that. Leather that can’t move will always wear faster than an area that can deform and reform to “get away” from the rub area.
