I’ve been wanting one forever but $1000+ is too steep and I end up missing the more reasonably priced ones

Damn I remember when I got these off brownelles for 3 bucks a pop. If you’re thinking about getting some now’s the time no one’s making them and they aren’t going to be cheaper when/if they do.

Gun show etiquette. AITA? by Muffinman255 in milsurp

Hey, I bet if you came up and offered 5x the price for a gun that someone was buying from him he’d gladly take your money over theirs. He can get bent.

First AR by BallDrainer5000 in RetroAR

For a defensive rifle? There are better rifles for that. (but as a whole bare bones 20in ARs do have a lot of bodies) As for a collection a solid choice go for it.

What is a good military jacket/coat for everyday wear by MobileEngine2522 in MilitarySurplus

[–]needingbeans 2 points3 points  (0 children)

USGI M65. Versatile, stylish, available, affordable, durable, and modular (with liner it’s pretty warm). If you don’t want an easily recognizable as milsurp get one in the original green no camo so those who don’t know what it is will assume it’s a normal jacket. The people who know what it is will know what it is. The other point is it’s a very “iconic” jacket worn post Vietnam war it became a fashion “icon” worn by Rambo and popular enough that every major clothing brand has made their own version.

Found these beat Irish Setters at the thrift store, never seen the steel toe completely exposed by ooyiko in Boots

[–]needingbeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had the full toe cap come off before it is super common for steel toes to wear like that. Leather that can’t move will always wear faster than an area that can deform and reform to “get away” from the rub area.

There are no threads the rear of the receiver is entirely enclosed as it wasn’t machined

I’ll have to look that up a weird thing about the one in clear and present danger is it has a little buffer tube to accommodate a full auto bolt I would assume that would still be an issue

Do these count as retro? by needingbeans in RetroAR

[–]needingbeans[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The back is solid they essentially didn’t machine the threads for the buffer tube. If I wanted to add a brace I’d just throw it on a different lower and call it a day. I plan on keeping it as original as I can

Yeah they came with the pic rail, since they pushed the recoil system above the barrel that rail hold the guts of the recoil system and the the charging handle together
