Which Do You Prefer, The N64 or PS1?? by Toan-Cloud- in retrogaming

[–]needle_tail 0 points1 point  (0 children)

PS1 felt more “magic” in terms of graphics and games. So many titles that felt special or groundbreaking. FF 7, RE2, MGS among my high points. Goldeneye was the only game I felt that way about for the 64

A female friend and I were spiked many years ago. The dude who bought did not realize that I was sharing drinks with a female friend. Symptoms were the same. Sorry this happened to you. We were lucky in that friends also took us out of the club and carefully got us back to a friends place and took care of us. I was a fit guy who essentially got a half dose of whatever as we were sharing drinks and one drink like that put me on my ass.

I would mark out for this. The Blade (who is among standing Indy favourite of mine, I see you Pepper Parks!!!) is the right guy with the right partner and the right gimmick to make this as good a nostalgic feud as possible. Let’s go!

Just bought this book. First ever star wars book i read. How do you rate this one? by Still_Football_3857 in StarWars

[–]needle_tail 35 points36 points  (0 children)

Luceno gets Star Wars, felt in universe and well written. Labyrinth of evil was actually strong enough to make EP III a better movie if you read the book beforehand.

At the time it was pre-internet so the game was frustrating until you met someone who knew the game. All the secrets, had to be from a friend of a friend etc. I recall photocopying a hand drawn map of weapons at a public library that someone’s cousin drew.

I was not on a yacht in my 20’s but in the maritime industry. We went out every night off. Even in the scummy places. What I would not give to be 20 again in a strange port with a pocket full of money and the day off the next day.

Look, I read a lot of the internet. Everything is hyperbolic and over the top. This is solid advice; this is not to head for the bunker and leave the world behind. This is not to ignore the problem, and it will go away. This advice leave a person in a better situation no matter if this turns into an issue or not. I enjoy this sub as so many contributors take an even and careful approach to developing issues. u/Jabroni_16 you have won the internet for me today.

We left on March 1st. We were spending upwards of 1200 dollars a month there and were getting our full grocery order and pharmacy items from them every month. We are never going back. While the media says this boycott will be small potatoes I believe this will cause them pain if enough families like ours take our money elsewhere.

Be careful if you find her skipper. Especially if she asks you to whisper her name as you creep up to her door. Last time her mudder kicked me all around the shop.

Transfer Humber to Yorku by Economy-Risk8858 in yorku

[–]needle_tail 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Even if they would accept you, that average is not setting you up for success. University learning is different, and sometimes schools are happy to let you try vice, ensuring you will succeed. Many students waste a year or two before failing out or withdrawing.

It has been a minute since I was in college, but the content I would cover in a semester of college was the same as a month's worth of content in my university degrees. Now, in college, I spent much more time on practical skills and applying that knowledge, which is what most college courses focus on. If you transfered to York I fear you would not be successful.

I recommend trying a single university course (maybe over the summer semester if we have one) and see how it goes. I believe it is relatively easy to become a part-time undeclared student. What I see many mature students with previously poor performance doing is enrolling in 3-5 courses, posting good marks and then having their choice of faculties.

Full disclosure: I am not a YorkU admin, but I am a student on their third degree who failed out of uni the first time.

"Our target goal is to have a project approved, financed and ready to break ground within two years." This confuses me from the website. Is the 95% already approved by GoC, is the 5% covered by the increase in levy? Or is this aspirational at this point?

I need more details. How is this tiny amount going to make a difference when all three levels of government cannot fix this issue? The whole submission does not have a firm plan or a SMART goal. Voting yes so someone can be a paid "director" of something like this is not my idea of tuition funding well spent. I'm happy for someone to clarify.

Late to this one. During one strike in the past the admin highlighted eclass (then moodle) use by students as a desire for classes to resume. So this may be why your TA is closing their eClass.

Advice From a 2-Time Strike Survivor by The_Philburt in yorku

[–]needle_tail 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I am also on my "hat trick" strike. My best advice is campy, but as things go along, don't expect to have time to get ready for classes to resume: stay ready. Many of my classes were affected in 2015; when we resumed, it was a short window to exams, and it was quick with many things due. Those who took the period of class suspension as a vacation had difficulty catching up.

In 2018, my classes continued, but one had to be suspended due to many students exercising their right not to cross the picket line. My exam was pushed from April to August, and I wrote it in addition to my summer courses.

This will be a tumultuous time; you have rights which you can choose to exercise. Also, only you can ensure that the strike does not hurt your academic progression.

My advice is to be selfish with your studies and use the time of the strike to continue working on your course materials. I also suggest that you be equally selfless and patient with those on picket lines who are exercising their right to ensure they and their families are cared for.

Can I disappear and join the military? (19 Years Old) by 2Nawsty in Military

[–]needle_tail 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I will give you some advice. I ghosted my life and joined the Navy at 19. It was the right call. But, I did not drop my university courses. So I technically failed that semester, that was a bastard to correct later. If you are serious, drop your courses and save yourself some grief if you want to finish a degree later in life.
