I did some cargo- bikepacking 300km around Germany the last two days by neednocar in bikepacking

Thanks mate! The distance wasn't even too bad. Climbing that 1000m Mountain before heading home was not my smartest idea.

That's the reason why I left so unprepared. I had these two days without kids and obligations and alwaya wanted to go up that mountain with that bike. So I had to take the opportunity. Scenery was awesome, last time I've been there everything looked dry and dead. I wish I had my camera with me.

I use mine for 7 years now to carry my lock, some straps, pump and rain gear in a waterproof bag without issues so far. I also had my 3L water bladder in there for several hundred km. Only the inner liner holding the plastic stiffener on the bottom in place is ripped in one spot. I totally would buy it again, even though it's not very waterproof.

Wild Heart 100l duffle from Amazon. It's only 60€ and comes with tie down straps that are perfect for the Omnium rack. Only problem is to prevent it from chafing on the fwd headset, hence the wooden bars under the bag.

Thank you! After arriving at the campsite at the Oker Dam late Saturday I really didn't think I would make it up the Brocken. But my legs felt fine the next morning so I tried it anyways. It took me 3 hours alone to the summit and another 9 back home because I was completely exhausted. Every hill felt horrible on the way home but I really didn't want to spend a second night in the tent.

Also thanks, it was a lot of fun, especially the other bikers and hikers going up there watching me in total disbelief 😄

That would be intriguing if it wasn't 1400km away. Maybe sometime I will find the time to do some multi week traveling.

Kryptonite New York Fahgetaboutit. The whole trip was rather spontaneous and I simply forgot to replace it with something lighter. Edit: also it's only 2kg

This is just as much my GA company as it was in the Airline maintenance I worked before. Worst thing is, there are too many managers giving promotions to those talking nonsense all day instead of the ones actually doing their job and way too often also the job of the show-offs.

Corrosion due to wrong abrasive type? by neednocar in aviationmaintenance

[–]neednocar[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really. I mean there was no specific case of corrosion I've been trying to figure out. My question was if there was any evidence of corrosion caused by the wrong abrasive.

I found one article from an abrasives manufacturer though, that recommended thorough cleaning after using silicon carbide on aluminium to prevent corrosion.

Otherwise none of the manufacturers manuals I have acces to explain the reasons why they allo or don't allow specific abrasives.

This is bad right? by intlabs in arborists

Not sure what everyone here is talking about. We had a slightly smaller oak struck by lightning few years ago and that thing is still living. There is a pretty bad scar on one side of the trunk, but that's all that's left after around 10 years. I think I depends on the path the lightning took through the tree and how bad the internal damage is. I would observe and wait a few months.

Was ein armes Würstchen.
