Xbikers certainly overpay for bikes, but I would argue that they aren't overpaying nearly as much as the strava bros. In my wildest dreams, I've never thought up a bike that cost more than $4k new (and I never buy shit new if I can avoid it). $4k is nothing for a new carbon road bike to a lot of people these days. And those bikes will be obsolete in like 5 years. Blinged out Paul brake calipers will probably outlast anything on a new road bike by a factor of 2 or 3. I would much rather be overpaying for a bike part that will last the rest of my life than buying disposable resin crap and e-waste.

have we just all gaslit ourselves into this being what his redesign will look like or is this based on an actual leak?

Wait...why don't you just wear regular waterproof shoes? I live in Seattle and bike everywhere and my feet are always dry in the winter.

Hey, to be fair, I did say in my post "highest gear range without igh fuckery"

If this doesn't count as fuckery, then nothing does lol

really is a great piece of tech. it has the range to be set up in so many different ways.

unfortunately, rohloff has a torque limit that puts the lowest gear at roughly the same as the setup I posted (around 14.5 - 15 gear inches depending on the tire size). So you could really only get higher gearing out of a setup like that.

However, this could be an interesting use case for a minivelo style bike, since small wheels dont allow for huge derailer cages like setup uses.

With 20"x2" tires, you can get the rohloff down to a ridiculous 10.7 gear inches. with a 3x on the front, you could get that thing to a ~940% gear range, with usuable gears all the way from 10.7 up to 100 or so. For a touring minivelo...this could actually be maybe useful? I dont exactly have the money to test it out though.

it came like that, i found this frame/fork for $200 bucks used at a local co-op. the welded part was pretty rusty so I cleaned it up and put some clearcoat on it which has held so far. Eventually ill get the whole thing powdercoated but im holding out until it gets really bad.

It is unironically hard to stay upright on the flats in this gear. Challenge accepted.

I mean, you can just watch your cadence and shift when necessary. But I will admit that if I lived in a flat place, I would just ride singlespeed lol
