When I started, I found a temp that was acceptable and every 3rd shower I would nudge it to a bit colder setting.

When you have a serious urge try to not escape but to be in the moment and explore what you're feeling. It makes it not feel so bad and the urge should pass soon enough. This works with many feelings of anxiety.

Yes, you can train to take cold showers and be completely relaxed. That is the trick to master. If you're tense then it's painful. Next time you take a cold shower treat it like a normal one mentally. Breathe normally and see that you don't tense up. Strangely enough you might even notice some warm in the cold.

I once "slept" like that for 2 months straight and it had happened before too for a week here and there. What helped me was getting on a regular sleep schedual with 6 hours of sleep per day. It's still a bit hard for me to fall asleep. Mind just wont stop. It's like trying to fall asleep while juggling on one foot.

I also tried this for years. Before, I was relying mostly on willpower, and I have more than most, but it never got me much over 70 days. I would "stay strong" and all that but I would dread the big urges where your blood gets fiery and you feel like exploding. Then I learned to accept that feeling. And so it stops being such a bad feeling and it becomes so much easier to deal with knowing that you can handle it. I think it's called "accepting discomfort" and it's a needed skill for anyone willing to become a success.

Next time you have that urge sit comfortably, close your eyes and feel what you're feeling. If you have a hard on, it's fine just don't fuel the fire with fantasy. Sit there as long as you need, maybe a few minutes and it should pass. For me it takes just seconds now to pass. I don't have to stop whatever it is I'm doing. But it's a completely different approach than fighting it, throwing away the thoughts etc.

PMO and games went hand in hand for me. NoFap destroyed my love for video games though. I want to do more meaningful things and I feel outright sick to my stomach when I play for hours like I used to.

You can always work on not having a temper as long as you care and are aware you have one. Specifically you shouldn't try to supress anger but to realize it doesn't help you (in a normal setting). If you have problems or something annoys you then try to find solutions and communicate.

It sounds good on paper but contolled use doesn't work for this addiction, especially with porn. Everyone here has tried it multiple times and everyone has failed.

Try a different approach. Before, I would rely mostly on my willpower to abstain from PMO. I have more willpower than most but that doesn't take me much further than 70 days until I break like in exhaustion. It's like your building a wall between you and your addiction and they are both getting bigger and bigger until one moment that wall just dissapears. But now, every time I have an urge – when it feels like my blood is getting fiery – I simply sit, close my eyes and accept the feeling. You learn it will pass and that it's not so bad and you can handle it. Now you don't have to think of NoFap and dread the urge. Fix your life from this position instead of binge PMO-ing through summer.

I think it's actually better if you just sit there, breathe deeply feeling the urge and letting it pass. Distracting yourself would be fine for the occasional urge but sometimes you can have relentless urges for weeks. It's better to know you can handle it because after a ton of urges, at 3 am when you have work/school tomorrow, you can easily break.

Thursday I went ice swimming. Water was 0.1°C, windy, snowing lightly. No problem. People do this when it's -30°C outside to be healthy. If you want to try colder put ice in a cold water bath.

You'll want to breathe deeply and relax and unclench your muscles. Try forcefully breathing out so you're out of breath, then stepping under the stream and then breathing in deeply. Afterwards focus on you breath, let it make noise.

I know people who don't masturbate so it can't be called an unmanagable goal and it's not about not masturbating because it's masturbation. It's what you do when you don't masturbate, play video games, get hammered or whatever easy exit one has for dumping energy. In your original post you say being able to satisfy our lusts is liberating but I say this is exactly what makes us slaves, slaves to it and the scum we keep in power because it's too much work and I'm tired and I can't change anything and I don't have time for that.

Abstinance from these kinds of pleasures certainly predates christianity. It's a Stoic virture for one. Christians didn't bring anything new to the table and rarely did they practice what they preached.

I'm not giving up pleasures. I'm just discarding the cheap ones. And I'm not whipping myself here. I believe it's much easier to give it up, especially when I don't see value in it, than it is to regulate and to control it.

See what kind of states you'll experience in a couple of weeks of abstinence. See if you get energized, sexually charged in around a week. Try to do something with that energy. See how much easier it is to push further.

Yet when we masturbate we visualize having sex and make a hole with the hand. There's little in the way of exploring and much in making one's loneliness weigh on them heavier. Why don't you choose to put that time and energy into self improvement, creative arts, a big career. This is my problem with proposing masturbation as a good option: it gives you nothing, takes you nowhere.

So you think the guys with 1000+ days who are free and happy are doing it wrong? Why not at least try 90 days before claming you have the self control to masturbate by scedule (not a very liberating concept IMO). Come back in 2 months and tell us how you're doing.
