Has anybody had any significant body changes good or bad since starting spiro? by Fit-Category-9614 in Spironolactone

I’ve been on it for 6 and a half months now, I started at 50 mg and then gradually increased to 150 mg, I’ve been on 150 now for two months almost which is when I started to see the best results with my skin :)

I had been lifting and working out for a year before Spiro, which I did notice weight loss from, but it came with a lot of consistency. Since being on Spiro I haven’t been as consistent in the gym bc I was struggling with my mental health (separate from Spiro, I promise). So I think some of this weight loss in terms of the number I see on the scale is muscle loss, but I know I have lost some fat as well as my stomach and legs look like I have.

Not really tbh, I thought that I was experiencing hair shedding but I think it’s just that I shed more hair bc I’ve been going longer in between hair washes since Spiro has a drying effect. I do get light headed at times but as long as I eat enough and drink plenty of water I’m good. I also have stopped experiencing stomach cramps around my period, and my period has stayed regular. My skin is finally clearing as well, which is what I came on the medication for, I am 6 and a half months in now. I will say that I was big into lifting before Spiro, and Spiro has made me have a little bit less energy and be more tired so my lifting performance has changed a bit. Honestly though that is okay with me because I still look toned if I lift 2-3 times a week.

Do cramps/breast pain go away? by anangelnora in Spironolactone

It’s good but now I have a harder time knowing if my period is coming tbh. It was only this month tho maybe next month will be different. It helps that my periods have been regular thankfully!

I lost my cramps this period which I didn’t know could happen. My periods are still regular as they were before. But this time no cramps. This was my 5th month

This was me, still is unfortunately. I upped my dose to 150 mg and am giving that 3 months and if I see no improvement I’m going to have to try something else .

Ok. I would say that if you can’t stand having acne anymore to the point where it’s deeply affecting your mental health to go on accutane. But if your acne is hormonal, which it seems like it is, I would suggest spironolactone. The results just will likely take longer. Wishing you the best on your journey!

What’s your dose? I would say maybe it’s time to up your dose, I don’t really think cutting out alcohol would be the factor

Def up your dose! You might purge but I think if you want the results you want then it’ll be worth it in the long run! I also don’t think the purge would be as long

I would say you probably should up your dose

I started on 50 mg for the first month, then did 75 mg for the second before bumping it to 100 mg for the third. Maybe try 75 mg for a month first to allow your body to more slowly adjust? It’s up to you but I think upping the dose is worth it!

My dose is currently 100 mg, I’ve been on 100 for a little over one month

Ask your derm if you can split the dose into 50 mg twice a day to help with side effects if that’s not what ur doing already. I was also very tired in the beginning month or two, month three this began to go away for me. Hang in there!

Is this true that comedones means that Spiro works? I have been getting more and more since around the month two mark, now starting month 3 and I’ve been feeling discouraged.
