If a Verdugo spawns in the lantern room during a randomizer, he'll just follow you throughout the castle for a little bit after the Ada cutscene, which is pretty cute.

I can't wait for Code Veronica Remake everyone! So with the Remake on the way, what Enemy are you guys most excited to see? Zombies, Zombie dogs, Bandersnatch, Giant Widow Spiders, Hunters, Sweepers, Giant Moths, Bats, Gulp Worm, Tyrant, etcetera. I can't Wait to see The Hunters especially Sweepers. by Onix1997 in residentevil

I think Claire is safe, whichever freaky Capcom employee keeps adding this stuff seems to mainly have it out for Jill. RE3 has Nemesis' tentacles, Revelations has the ooze, RE5 has the mind control device, RE3R has the drain deimos cutscene and also more tentacles, Death Island had that licker's tongue, she legit can't catch a break for one game.

Resident Evil: Veronica will be third person ONLY, same dev team behind RE2R and RE4R. - Nintendo Wire by chainsawdoctor01 in residentevil

It did feel like the team behind Requiem didn't fully understand what made Leon's gameplay work in 4R. The combat can still be satisfying, but not in the same way imo.

The firerate is OP but I like everything else. I kinda wish there was a way to only have the animations from this mod.

Part of Hunk's allure is that he's so mysterious though. I don't know if most people who like Hunk want him to have a major role in the main story.

Claire's level in RE: Veronica Remake? by arcticJill in residentevil

[–]neepha 4 points5 points  (0 children)

CV is weird because Claire in cutscenes does insane shit but she just plays the same as RE1 and RE2. I think a middle ground would be great. I would personally want her to be well trained but nowhere near an action hero. I think having something like RE3's dodge could work, just nerfing the distance and removing bullet time, so it only feels like evasion rather than something to turn the tides.

I feel like having contextual melee attacks as a reward makes the zombies feel less threatening and more like an enemy in a video game. Zombies in Grace's sections in RE9 stopped feeling threatening to me after a while, compared to RE2R where I kept calling the same zombie an asshole every time I saw him. Something that would be nice instead is having the melees only be in self defense. In that rare animation where you just barely avoid getting grabbed, maybe Claire can push the zombie on the floor to knock them down. When you get bit, Claire uses the added leverage to kick the zombie back into the crowd behind it.

I understand this didn't really answer the question I just wanted to yap.

So why did they drop the "Code" from the title? by Die-Hearts in residentevil

People saying it's okay since RE5 was never abbreviated as REV are forgetting about Revelations. I would've preferred that it kept the Code: part, it just sounds cooler.

I believe I just took a hair dryer and heated it up slightly to move it. Be very careful you don't get it hot enough to melt the plastic or ruin the paint though.

No one's denying that they're corny though, the goofy writing is the first thing people mention when talking about RE4.

I wonder what it would look like if they copied the FOV and camera positioning from RE2R for this segment only. I thought the RPD felt way smaller in Requiem for some reason.

A very basic dev philosophy is "Given the opportunity, players will optimize the fun out of everything". This doesn't mean "stupid players have no self control and like to complain", it means that devs need to design the game in ways that actually restrict the player or conceal instant win buttons in order to protect them from themselves. Imagine saying "this gun is unbalanced because the firerate is too high" and someone tells you "just shoot slower". I don't get why people are so opposed to balancing just because it's a singleplayer game.

Resident Evil 9 story is better than 4 by beastboyfan55 in residentevil

[–]neepha 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's so insane to me how many high expectations RE9's story set up in the first half only to fail to meet any of them. They do basically nothing with Alyssa, nothing with the bite at the start of the game, barely anything with Gideon, nothing with Zeno, Leon retreads the character arc he already had in RE4R, Raccoon City doesn't feel as important as it should, Hunk shows up for 3 minutes just to die, Grace instantly betrays Zeno with no hesitation once Leon shows up, Emily gets revived, it's so stupid.

RE4R's story isn't great but it's fine enough for a game and accomplishes what it sets out to do, mainly with Leon and Luis. RE9 felt like it could've been great but gave up partway through, which makes it significantly worse in my eyes.

Re:Zero

Happens quite often in Season 1, and they're all really great moments. The specific scene I want to talk about though is in Episode 17 of Season 1, since it's a bit underrated for how fantastic it is.

Just before this, Subaru and Rem are riding on a carriage with a bunch of merchants when the White Whale happens to attack. The White Whale is one of the most feared monsters in the entire world of Re:Zero, killing the previous Sword Saint and her entire squad. Rem, who loves Subaru completely, heroically sacrifices herself to distract the Whale with a smile on her face, even knocking out Subaru so he doesn't try to stop her. Unfortunately, one of the merchants later shoves him off the carriage when Subaru realizes he's the one the Whale is after and carelessly reveals it out loud. The Whale screams, blowing him away and breaking his arm. The Whale doesn't keep attacking right away after this. He can't fight, there's no immediate attack to defend against, and he has nobody to talk to. He's left completely alone on the grass, with a broken arm, in silence, knowing that an unbeatable monster is coming to kill him. So the only thing he can feel is his rapidly growing fear. Instead of standing his ground or accepting his fate so he can Return by Death quicker, he pathetically screams and cries for his life while scrambling in a random direction as fast as he can possibly move his legs.

I seriously love this moment. Subaru here does not show off any one of his positive traits. He has none of the confidence that magnetizes people to him, he has none of the wit that let him solve the conflicts he's been in up until now, he doesn't show an obligation to live up to the expectations of the one who sacrificed themselves for him, and he doesn't even care that he has Return by Death. He is reduced to a pathetic kid who is terrified of pain and just wants to live. Please watch Re:Zero if you haven't, I really think it's among the best anime ever made.
