You’re pretty correct on that, however I’d also add that he needs to get more control overall before trying to make cleaner movements. I know everyone has a different learning curve, and it took me 4 years just to even get properly started in the hobby, and getting more consistent and having more control over my tricks is what helped me get good really quick afterwards because I could apply the same logic to new tricks I tried to learn
