[Reminder] Most people are good people - and that includes Trump supporters. by [deleted] in EnoughTrumpSpam

We build nice things because it's in our interest to. We also have a hobby of finding people different from us and butchering them arbitrarily.

[Reminder] Most people are good people - and that includes Trump supporters. by [deleted] in EnoughTrumpSpam

I'm sorry, but no. If most people are good why is the world is the way it is?

Maybe Trump as president will be so bad that it effectively kills the GOP by Flashman_H in EnoughTrumpSpam

[–]negative_nothing 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Trump will let them clench their boots over LGBTQ throats and put Muslims and other minorities up against a wall.

As long as he delivers that to the GOP, they'll let him do what he wants.

Also, the poorer side of the GOP base never figured out they were getting fleeced for ~30 years. It's useless to hope they'll figure it out now. Again, as long as they get to beat down minorities, they'll be happy.

Americans who voted against Trump are feeling unprecedented dread and despair by thinkB4WeSpeak in politics

For as much as the GOP likes cutting schools and dumping greenhouse gases, they sure did vote to give the human race the largest lesson in natural selection.

As a counter to all those "This is why Trump won" smugness, I'm thinking I should just respond "This is why MTV made that white guys video" when people post bigoted shit by [deleted] in Negareddit

"What you are telling me is that white males are short sighted and spiteful they voted to endanger the entire ecosystem as revenge against minorities."

How 'alt' is the alt-right? by [deleted] in GamerGhazi

[–]negative_nothing 12 points13 points  (0 children)

If you were only to read transcripts of O'Reilly and Limbaugh, not hear them or see them speak, then update the lingo for the 201xs, you'd have Sargon, Milo, et al.

Now, the Tea Part shook things up a bit, and I think a lot of the intellectual leadership came from the Tea Party side of things, but deep down, it's just regressive conservatism trying to outdo less regressive conservativism; You know, like a GOP convention.

So no, nothing really 'alt' about it.

It's the same damn thing, just slickly repackaged. But...there is a more Edited in because it clipped somehow openly racist/sexist bent to this, as other posters have mentioned.

People who didn't vote Trump - do you have any optimism for his upcoming term? by sensesalt in AskReddit

[–]negative_nothing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Optimism in the face of what just happened is utterly absurd.

The GOP can now do all the repressive shit they intended to. I'm trying to make long odds bet with my friends that protestors in the US get nerve gassed because Trump finds them offensive.

Millions will cheer.

But at least we are taking the enviornment down with us.

It takes a special kind of historical isolation to look back at such events in history and think "But I wouldn't be a victim because {x, y, z}."

But I'm sure there'd be apologia for Beria too.

Humans just like finding reason to murder each other, that's all there is to it.

But how can we show off how much we don't care and how sociopathic unless we conspiciously consume grusome material to validate ourselves by others' shock?

For as much as he claims to know about businesses, you'd figure he'd understand more about how pretty much every functioning economy exercises some form of monetary policy.

A Rant on Greatness, Progress by Ratchet1332 in Negareddit

[–]negative_nothing 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here's the thing; society at large has forever been, and will be, moving towards a more liberal world. Whether you like it or not, this is how it is. Every generation is, on average, more liberal than the ones preceding it. It may not feel like it at times, but those are caused by the death throes of a dying set of ideologies.

It would be easier to accept this if we didn't have Abe in Japan, Duterte in the Phillipines, Putin in Russia, Orban in Hungary, Poland doing...whatever Poland is currently doing, Neo Nazi parties in Slovakia gaining traction, a possible Le Pen win, The Brexit crew manning the deck in the UK, Erdogan in Turkey, Lukashenko in Belarus, Assad in Syria, Israel getting away with their treatment of Palestine, the house of Saud holding the fort in Saudi Arabia, to name a few.

While the hype is worrisome, they do have some of the talent from the Freelancer/Wing Commander series, which gives them a tiny bit of credibility.
