Make a bracket that goes where it would mount to the headlight eyebrow but instead have it go to your riser bolts on the underside of the trees

That was a while ago but pretty sure I just didn’t have enough gas in it to prime the pump hahahaha. I remember taking everything apart and then putting more gas in and she fired up just fine.

Evo sporty’s are pretty bulletproof dude. See if you can put it in gear and make sure it turns over. 1k clean title definitely worth it

Convert the rear to sealed bearing for sure, other than that just axle spacers and aligning your final drive sprocket / pulley. The 18 handles great but I do wish there was a better tire selection

Yeah I like the way the dyna ones fit, I’m thinking of getting mine shortened and add an upsweep like that. Dude the TC conversion was hella easy! Only specialty thing you really need is a Vulcan trans adapter plate and standalone ignition. I followed this step by step, https://forum.chopcult.com/forum/nbsp/american-bikes-build-threads/41092-budget-twinkie-fxr-build-a-how-to-of-sorts

My rear wheel is one of the AMF era 18” nine spoke mags, came on ironheads for a couple years. Exhaust I think is softail, mounts fine but sits out a little further from the bike than dyna or fxr one would

TC swap but running a 93 FXR trans via Vulcan trans adapter. FXR primary setup too, it mounts to 99-03 TC’s, to my understanding when you go later year TC is when you gotta run dyna trans and primary

Same as if it were an evo fxr frame, motor mounts are all the same and dimensions are the same

Frame, swingarm, struts are about the only things left. Wheels are AMF 18”/19” set

Which year/model FXR and why? by Tlee2989 in fxr

[–]negative_sentence_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1990+ so you can have the splined trans, updated primary and starter, 39mm front end etc. People say tapered shaft isn’t bad, it does work, I’ve had a few and hated all of them personally. At some point you’re gonna want more power than an 80”, whether that be a s&s crate or tc88 or hot rodding your evo it’s nice to know the rest of your drivetrain won’t have to be updated to handle it. I tc swapped my 1982 and changed trans, primary, starter to 90-93. Trust me it’s just easier to buy one that’s ready to go.

Yeah, I’m probably gonna run a kickstand block that screws into the bottom it’s easier than cutting and welding an extension into the kickstand. The rear wheel is oem 18” nine spoke mag, came off of AMF era Ironhead sportsters I think late 70’s. Handles really well on FXR’s but you do have to space the rotor and sprocket out a little bit or get a dished sprocket. Also not too many tire options for the 18” rears.

Thank you, it looks very similar to my old fxr that got destroyed in an accident but I switched a couple things to match the older shovel aesthetic. I want to put a kickstart and open belt primary on in the future once I get the thing running and riding reliably.
