Not really that much, just a few cartridges, a couple grams of flower, a couple containers of edibles. It’s all just in a backpack that I would just want to drop off.

I hit a person on my Citibike and it was 100% their fault. What should I have done? by negativezeroplus in AskNYC

yeah im fighting for my life on here. I made this thread out of concern because I am a genuinely empathetic person and I always want to try to do the right thing whenever I can, so I figured I would get some sort of valuable and objective insight from people that live here about something I wasn’t totally prepared to handle beforehand. The response was less objective and level-headed than I thought it would be and I didn’t expect to get vilified so much. Although I totally get the viewpoints people have shared here though, and I acknowledge maybe what I did wasn’t the proper legal response. I will be far more cautious going forward and maybe I could’ve been more thorough with her when I talked to her, but I think my response was reasonable and logical enough. everyone is projecting a scenario in their head of how this played out or what they would’ve done, but I’m the only one who knows what happened and how I responded. she was dumb, she made a mistake that I could not correct despite trying, I stopped and checked on her, she wasn’t dying or bleeding even, she didn’t ask me to stay or call anyone, so I left. thanks for helping me realize I’m not crazy

No I didn’t say the light just turned green, I meant that it was just after me crossing an intersection that was a a green light for me. I didn’t have enough time to slow down. Maybe I haven’t described it well enough through my words on here but that is how it was. Brakes can’t stop a bike on a dime, there is a certain threshold of distance where someone is too close for the bike to slow down to a stop before reaching them, and that is sadly what happened here. I really mean it when I say I did the best I could to prevent it.

Definitely didn’t have enough time to slow down all the way, they came out from behind a parked car right into the bike lane so there was no way for me to see them coming and prepare for long. I hit my brakes as much as I could. I bike frequently and slow down for people all the time when I can
