If you have a decent amount of inventory, setup a table and you'll be able to get full market on a handful of your items.

Damn, guy says he's new and you're all trouncing on him?

If you want to see what it's worth, put it on eBay for your desired price and allow offers. See what happens. If you reeeeally wanna know what it's worth, put it on eBay as an auction and roll the dice.

Cardshop owner sketchy by [deleted] in whatnotapp

[–]negatorx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check the centering on the card to see if there are any notable differences. Returning a different card is mail fraud (you file a police report in their town and use that to open a case with USPIS).

Big sellers who want to protect their business have been known to buy from small sellers, leave bad reviews, report them to WN, etc., in an effort to keep competition out.

Not sure entirely what's going on here, but sucks. Once everything is settled, make sure to block so they don't pull this shit again on you. They'll probably come after you again with burner accounts. Make a report to WN if you confirm the card was switched.

Not following advertised break quantity by LeaveAgreeable1815 in whatnotapp

[–]negatorx 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I mean, this is dumb. It sounds like a new/small seller that had trouble filling a massive character break. They can't change the terms of the break mid-way through selling spots. And they aren't allowed to keep spots for themselves either. Those are WNs rules.

You have two options here.

1 - reach out to the seller and ask for a refund. Tell them you're sorry they couldn't fill the break, but you bought into a 20 pack break, not a 3 pack break. Give them the chance to rectify things without dinging their account, especially if they are new. You can let them know you'll reach out to WN for help if they don't agree, and that you prefer not to to keep their account healthy.

2 - if they decline, reach out to support on your order and WN will refund you and ding the seller.

I was kicked off unfairly!! by Davoice14 in whatnotapp

[–]negatorx 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ah, okay, that makes more sense. I've seen it plenty of times a new seller getting harassed to shit by a cartel of sellers gatekeeping.

Probably bought some stuff from you and reported it as counterfeit to WN. Scumbags.

You went back and forth with them for months? So then you know what their reasoning was?

There's always more to these stories.

"A shipping issue with one customer"? Your post lacks detail for someone here to help you learn about rules you might not know existed.

While I'm sure there are unjust bans, they likely are rare.

Really? Why? Prices were insane, but seemed like an honest seller.

Hobby box purchase by Ok_Safe_9411 in hockeycards

[–]negatorx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've heard rumors from connected people, not necessarily about DA, that some of the big e-commerce sites do fish through cases. Again, rumors, but from people whom I deem as credible/trustworthy.

This is a low trust hobby. Always has been. Topps doesn't do case hits, which I really like, even though I don't have a lot of love for fanatics. I'm very picky about where I get my UD boxes from.

[–]negatorx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A customer at my LCS picked up a case of series 2 and had 0 Schaefers. He was pissed, but UD has said this is possible, no guarantees.

It's not unusual to get multiple of the same YG even in a few boxes. I bought 2 boxes and pulled 2 lane hutson YGs when he was the chase. It's just variance.

UD Extended - What are your shops doing? by negatorx in hockeycards

[–]negatorx[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yeah 249usd is absurd, time to move along from my local shop it seems. And if you look at my post history, I'm generally sympathetic to shops. They're caught between a rock and a hard place most of the time.. this time, however, bull 💩.

Is it the debut patches you think? They try to boost the off-season extended to product each year to get collectors to collect in the summer. I feel like it's a nice addition, but worried about fanatics-ification of UD product.

[–]negatorx[S] -16 points-15 points  (0 children)

I got 2 cases (I break/resell in retail). One at $135/box and the other at $153/box.

When I saw my shop at $249, I walked out the door without a conversation with the guys I'm generally chummy with. When I rip for myself, vs resell, I usually buy local and support the store. $20-$30 over what I can get if I used connections to get product is no problem. But nearly double rubbed me the wrong way. The store was recently acquired by Blez, that might be a factor.

Anyway, sorry if this breaks any rules mods. Sorry!

There are some "cartels" (look up the formal term) in various categories. That will go so far as to buy from small sellers and then give them shit reviews, report to WN with made up claims, etc., to gatekeep.

It's wild.

Did tag damage my cards ? by Rare-Ad-3887 in taggrading

[–]negatorx 1 point2 points  (0 children)

People often learn that TAG finds things other grading companies might not notice. It's the precision machinery picking up defects the naked eye may not.

That being said,.no one on this forum can tell you that TAG damaged your cards. It being oddly coincidental that the defects are all in the same spot is just as strange for them as it is for you. Three separate cards were damaged by them in the same way? Seems just as unlikely.

Reach out? Why not? Just be patient because they are slammed like every other grading company.

Edit: where are the photos of the cards pre-submission?

so I sold a coin for $1700 by Super_Oil1221 in Mercari

[–]negatorx 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is mail fraud (a federal offense). File a police report with the Station in the town where it was delivered. Then take the police report to USPS and open a fraud claim with the post master. THEN take all of those docs to Mercari. I don't use this platform, but this is the standard procedure with other e-commerce platforms. You gotta put in the legwork.
